The YMCA of Regina (operating in Regina & Moose Jaw) excels at delivering programming focused on our three pillars of service: community development, childcare & health fitness, and aquatics.

We are seeking a passionate & experienced ‘Pedagogical Lead’ to oversee the quality programing of the childcare centres in Moose Jaw & provide overall curriculum centred leadership including mentoring and coaching staff & coordinating professional development opportunities.

Responsibilities

Keep up to date records and files as deemed necessary by the Association/CEO/Board & Child Care Regulations.

Inform the General Manager of Childcare Services of the results of all visits & reports from licensing bodies.

Performs regular safety checks of the Centres & records findings.

Training of new staff in the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum & the YMCA Child Safeguarding Protocols.

Counsel staff on methods dealing with child behavior.

Ensures that all policies & procedures of the Centres, & Association overall, are followed.

Applies for & carries out the necessary requirements for special programming and projects (for example, risk assessment, follow up from PTL Assessments)

Participate or attend in the broader community with other childcare or advocacy organizations.

Keeps up with current ideas & research pertaining to childcare.

Explains various aspects of the Centres to interested members of the general public.

Review weekly program plans.





Supervise & evaluate program to ensure that the Child Development Philosophy is maintained.

Develop orientation tools & supports for new parent families.

Refers parent in need of specific supports (EA, etc) to the appropriate supports or agencies.

Carry out interviews & perform reference checks, review timesheets & other payroll entries, conduct annual performance reviews & end of probation evaluation for new employees & manage disciplinary actions in collaboration with the HR department.

Support & oversee centre directors at four locations in Moose Jaw.

Job Requirements

An Early Childhood Educator Level III issued by the Ministry of Saskatchewan

Five (5) years experience in childcare, administration, management, & staff supervision.

Advanced training in the YMCA Play to Learn curriculum or Play & Exploration Curriculum.

Experience with ASQ, ITER’s and ECER’s evaluations will be considered an asset.

Excellent leadership & coaching skills to influence and motivate others.

Valid Standard First Aid, CPR Level C Certifications A Transparent Criminal Record check with vulnerable sector check.
