Peel Cheshire Homes Inc. is a non-profit, charitable organization located in Streetsville, Ontario. Peel Cheshire House provides adults with disabilities, with a focus on acquired brain injuries, with affordable, accessible housing and support services in a congregate residential setting.

We are currently seeking one part-time and casual Personal Support Worker (PSW) to join our team.

Weekend availability is required. The ability to work evening and overnight shifts is an asset.

Position Summary The PSW provides individualized support to residents with activities of daily living while promoting their independence, dignity, choice and quality of life.

Working under the general supervision of the Manager, the PSW supports residents in their daily routines, personal care, household activities, social participation and self-care, while contributing to a warm, respectful and inclusive home environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide individualized support with activities of daily living, respecting each resident's choices, preferences and independence.
- Provide personal care, including bathing/showering, grooming, oral hygiene, dressing and undressing, toileting and assistance with transfers.
- Assist residents with meals and feeding as required.
- Prepare meals and participate in household meal routines.
- Assist residents with social, recreational and community activities.
- Use and maintain familiarity with equipment required for resident care.
- Perform homemaking duties, including housekeeping, laundry and maintaining a clean and safe home environment.
- Observe, report and document relevant changes in residents' needs, condition or behaviour in accordance with established procedures.
- Communicate appropriately with residents, families/guardians,



co-workers and management while maintaining confidentiality and respecting privacy.
- Participate in shift-change communication, staff meetings and other team activities.
- Work collaboratively with residents, co-workers and management to support a positive home environment.
- Follow Peel Cheshire Homes Inc. policies, procedures and established documentation and care practices.
- Follow infection prevention and control practices and use required personal protective equipment.
- Identify and report safety hazards, unsafe working conditions, equipment concerns and maintenance needs.
- Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and applicable workplace health and safety requirements.
- Participate in mandatory training and ongoing learning opportunities.
- Maintain professional conduct, appearance and communication at all times.
- Take initiative and contribute to the overall well-being and quality of life of residents.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the management team.

Qualifications and Requirements
- Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate from a recognized program.
- Standard First Aid and CPR certification.
- Ability to provide respectful, person-centred support to adults with disabilities.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including assisting with personal care, transfers and other activities of daily living.
- Robust communication,



interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect residents' privacy, dignity and choices.
- Ability to follow written care instructions, policies and procedures and accurately document information.
- Food Handler certification, where required by the position, or willingness to obtain certification within the required timeframe.
- WHMIS training, or willingness to complete required workplace training within the required timeframe.
- Successful completion of all required Peel Cheshire Homes Inc. training.

Assets
- Experience working with adults with acquired brain injuries or other disabilities.
- Experience supporting individuals with complex care needs.
- Palliative care or end-of-life care experience.
- Experience providing person-centred care in a residential, group-home or congregate-care setting.
- Experience supporting individuals with mobility, communication or behavioural needs.
- Additional relevant healthcare or support-worker training.
