KITCHEN PREP COOK
We’re looking for someone to join our kitchen team for daytime prep, around 28–35 hours per week, with some flexibility in the schedule. Up to 40 hours may be available for the right candidate.
If you’re newer to commercial kitchens but you’re reliable, organized, move with purpose and want to learn, we can train you.
If you have solid kitchen experience, there’s room to take on more responsibility.
What you’ll be doing
- Daily food preparation: washing, peeling, chopping, cooking, and organizing ingredients to ensure smooth kitchen workflow (proteins, veg, sauces etc.)
- Maintain cleanliness of dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen surfaces through proper dishwashing procedures
- Support the FOH team to meet quality standards
- Ensure all food handling practices adhere to safety and sanitation guidelines
- Follow procedures for waste disposal and recycling
- Assist with kitchen cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, washing dishes, sanitizing work areas, deep cleaning
- Keeping the kitchen organized and stocked
- Follow daily & monthly cleaning checklists
- Follow recipes accurately
- Handle catering prep and larger orders, supporting the FOH team when needed
We’re looking for someone who:
- Shows up on time and is reliable
- Can stay organized and focused during a busy prep day
- Is comfortable working on their feet and doing repetitive tasks
- Pays attention to details and food safety
- Willing to learn and take direction
- Can work independently once trained
- Able to carry items up and down stairs (we have a basement kitchen)
- Carry up to 15kg/33 lbs (we regularly carry bags of flour, bus tubs of proteins etc.)
Skills
- Experience in food service or restaurant environments
- Knowledge of food handling safety protocols and sanitation standards
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing for extended periods and lifting moderate loads
- Strong attention to detail when cleaning dishes and maintaining hygiene standards
- Basic cooking skills or willingness to learn
- Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude in a fast-paced setting
- Experience in using/cleaning meat slicers, Robotcoupe/food processor etc. is not necessary but are assets
Shift examples (there is some flexibility - please let us know if you have a preferred schedule)
8:00am-3:00pm (7 hours)
9:00am-5:00pm (8 hours)
10:00am-4:00pm (6 hours)
Kitchen experience is an asset, but not required. We’d like to find someone who is dependable and has a good attitude.
There is also opportunity for this role to grow into more responsibility within the kitchen for the right person.

Pay is based on the skills and experience you demonstrate on the job.
Pay: $15.48-$20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30.0 – 38.0 per week
