SmartPEP is a Canadian biotechnology and functional nutrition company based in Richmond, British Columbia. We focus on the research and application of small-molecule bioactive peptides, functional nutrition ingredients, and precision nutrition technologies. Our work covers ingredient research, product development, scientific collaboration, nutritional data analysis, and the development of tools that support more personalized nutrition assessment.

We are looking for a Product R&D; & Research Project Coordinator to join our growing team and support the development of new products, scientific research projects, technical documentation, and nutrition-related data initiatives.

This position is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career professional who is interested in applying a life-science background in a commercial biotechnology and nutrition environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Research bioactive peptides, functional ingredients, nutritional ingredients, and related technologies.
- Search, review, and summarize scientific literature relevant to new and existing SmartPEP products.
- Assist with ingredient evaluation, formulation research, sample testing, and product optimization.
- Compare raw materials, suppliers, technical specifications, and competitor products.
- Prepare and maintain product-development records, ingredient information, research references, and technical documents.
- Follow up on product samples, laboratory testing, and development timelines.

Research Project Coordination

- Support research collaborations with universities, laboratories, research institutions, suppliers, and external partners.
- Coordinate project documents, samples, testing requirements, research information, and timelines.
- Track project progress and follow up on outstanding tasks and deliverables.
- Organize experimental and research results into clear internal reports.
- Assist in translating scientific findings into practical product-development opportunities.

Data & Nutrition Research





- Organize and analyze data from raw-material testing, product testing, questionnaires, consumer feedback, and other internal projects.
- Use Excel to clean, summarize, compare, and present data.
- Assist with the development and refinement of SmartPEP's nutrition assessment questionnaires, scoring criteria, and follow-up evaluation framework.
- Support research related to the application of health and nutrition data in SmartPEP's precision nutrition initiatives.

Technical Documentation

- Prepare scientific summaries, product research reports, comparison tables, presentations, and internal technical materials.
- Help maintain organized R&D; files and research records.
- Translate complex scientific information into clear materials that can be understood by product, marketing, sales, and management teams.

Cross-Functional Project Support As part of a growing team, you may also assist with projects involving:

- New product development
- Product and raw-material specifications
- Scientific and technical supplier communication
- Laboratory testing and documentation
- Product claims and supporting scientific evidence
- Research presentations
- Internal R&D; process improvement

QualificationsRequired

- Bachelor's degree or higher in Food Science, Nutrition, Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Public Health, Data Science, or a related field.
- Ability to independently search, read, and understand English scientific literature.
- Strong research, organization, and documentation skills.
- Comfortable using Excel for data organization and basic analysis.




- Robust attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a small multidisciplinary team.
- Interest in biotechnology, nutritional science, functional ingredients, or product development.

- Previous laboratory or academic research experience
- Food, supplement, or health-product development experience
- Research project coordination experience
- Experience with statistical analysis
- Python, R, SQL, or data visualization experience
- AI or machine-learning project experience
- Scientific writing experience
- Experience working with universities or research institutions
- Chinese language skills
