Summary
The Production Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining production plans that align customer demand, inventory availability, material requirements, and production capacity. Working cross-functionally with Production, Procurement, Warehouse, Engineering, Sales, Logistics, and Quality, this role manages production priorities, monitors backlog and capacity, and proactively identifies and communicates material shortages, delays, and other risks that may impact customer commitments. The position also maintains accurate production planning data in NetSuite, supports inventory and material flow, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production efficiency and operational performance.
Language Requirement
Professional proficiency in English is required, as the position involves regular communication with teams and stakeholders located outside of Quebec, including across Canada, the United States, and other regions.
Pay
$70,000 to $80,000 CAD annually, depending on experience.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and medium-term production plans based on customer demand, sales forecasts, inventory availability, production capacity, and business priorities.
- Coordinate production priorities with the Production team, monitor progress against the plan,
and adjust schedules as needed to support customer delivery requirements.
- Manage and maintain production orders and planning information in the ERP system (NetSuite), ensuring production dates, quantities, priorities, and relevant planning data remain accurate.
- Analyze material requirements and availability to support the production plan, identify potential shortages, and coordinate with Procurement, Warehouse, and Inventory Control to ensure materials are available when required.
- Coordinate the movement and availability of materials between warehouse and production locations to support efficient and uninterrupted production.
- Monitor production backlog, capacity, lead times, and workload to identify potential constraints and provide visibility on production and resource requirements.
- Work closely with Production, Procurement, Engineering, Sales, Logistics, Quality, and Warehouse teams to resolve planning issues, support order readiness, and maintain alignment on priorities.
- Support inventory planning by reviewing material and finished goods requirements and helping maintain appropriate inventory levels and planning parameters.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Production to support new product introductions, product changes, BOM updates, and the transition of new products into regular production.
- Monitor production and planning performance, identify risks or variances, and prepare regular reports and dashboards to provide visibility into production readiness, material status, backlog, and delivery risks.
- Proactively communicate potential material shortages, production delays, capacity constraints, or other risks that may affect the production schedule or customer commitments.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on production planning, material flow, inventory accuracy, ERP processes, and overall operational efficiency.
- Follow company health and safety requirements and perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in planning, operations,
or supply chain particularly in a manufacturing environment that requires coordination between office and shop floor personnel.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to request priority focus from production leads while maintaining professional relationships with stakeholders.
- Competency with ERP/MRP software (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle) for material allocation and order tracking.
- Strong Excel skills and data modeling
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and demand-driven planning
Knowledge Skills, and Abilities
- Strong written communication and verbal skills
- Ability to analyze a delay and determine the quickest path to resolution.
- Proven ability to multi-task, set project priorities, establish department/discipline goals and objectives for self
- Computer literacy required; including proficiency with Microsoft applications (i.e. Excel, Word, PPT, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail
- Positive attitude, self-motivated and eager to succeed
