Job Overview

We are looking for a hands-on Production & Procurement Lead to oversee our production lines and help improve purchasing and operational efficiency.

When production is running, this person will take the lead on the floor — operating equipment, directing employees, ensuring the correct SKUs and materials are being used, and keeping production organized and efficient.

When production is not running, the role will focus on procurement, cost optimization, supplier research and operational improvements.

Duties

- Lead and operate packing and production lines.
- Direct employees and hold the production team accountable.
- Ensure proper startup, shutdown and operating procedures are followed.
- Ensure correct SKUs, packaging, labels, barcodes and specifications are used.
- Ensure production counts and required documentation are accurate.
- Coordinate with Quality Control and Maintenance when issues arise.
- Understand material requirements and usage for each SKU.
- Monitor labour, material usage, downtime and production efficiency.




- Source and compare pricing for packaging, CHEP pallets, freight and supplies.
- Negotiate and review supplier pricing.
- Research new suppliers, products and cost-saving opportunities.
- Use Excel and computer systems to track pricing, production and purchasing information.
- Help improve production processes, systems and efficiencies.

Skills

- Experience in fruit, produce, food processing or production preferred.
- Experience operating or overseeing production equipment.
- Strong leadership and ability to hold employees accountable.
- Strong computer and Excel skills.
- Comfortable learning and implementing technology.
- Organized, detail-oriented and positive at problem solving.
- Strong understanding of costs and willingness to research better options.
- Hands-on attitude with the ability to take ownership of problems.

Pay: From $22.00 per hour
