Qualifications

MINIMUM FORMAL EDUCATION/TRAINING:

- Completion of a Community College program in a related discipline is required.
- Undergraduate or Master’s degree in Indigenous studies, psychology, social work, nursing, or a related health/social sciences field is preferred.
- A combination of formal education, lived experience, and/or community-based expertise will be considered.

EXPERIENCE:

- Minimum of three years of directly related experience required.
- Experience working in partnership with First Nations, Inuit, and/or Métis communities, organizations, governments, or service providers is required.
- Experience supporting Indigenous-led research, community engagement, program delivery, or knowledge mobilization initiatives is required.
- Knowledge of Indigenous data sovereignty principles, including OCAP®, and distinctions-based approaches to engagement and research is considered an asset.
- Experience collaborating with a multi-person team in an online or hybrid work environment strongly preferred.
- Experience with community-based organizations supporting children and families preferred.
- Familiarity with REDCap or other electronic data capture tools preferred.
- Experience with project budget coordination and/or financial processing preferred.
- Experience with social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, TikTok) is an asset.
- Experience working with websites or eHealth-related platforms preferred.
- A combination of formal education, lived experience, and/or community-based expertise will be considered.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

- Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work respectfully with diverse teams and communities is required.
- Demonstrated understanding of cultural safety, trauma-informed practice, and relationship-centred approaches to working with Indigenous communities is required.
- Ability to build and maintain respectful relationships with Indigenous partners, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, community organizations, and diverse stakeholders is required.
- Knowledge of Indigenous health and wellness priorities, including strengths-based and self-determination approaches, is an asset.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills required.
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently with minimal supervision required.
- Proficiency in using online communication and collaboration tools (e.g., Zoom, MS Teams, OSF, Slack, Google Docs) required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required.

OTHER JOB RELATED QUALIFICATIONS:





- Commitment to advancing reconciliation and supporting Indigenous-led approaches to research, learning, and community wellness.
- Knowledge of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action and their relevance to health, research, and community engagement is an asset.
- Must complete research ethics training (CORE) and personal health information training (PHIA).
- Must complete specialized research tools training as required by the project.
- Must successfully transparent a Child Abuse Registry Check.
- Satisfactory work record, including attendance, responsiveness to feedback, and punctuality, required.
- Must complete the 8-week anti-racism training offered by the First Nations Health and Social Secretariat of Manitoba.

Key responsibilities

Project Coordination, Implementation, and Community Engagement

- Coordinates the day-to-day operations of the Indigenous-led Perinatal Mental Health Learning Health System (LHS-I) Hub to ensure project activities, timelines, and deliverables are completed in accordance with project objectives and funding requirements.
- Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with Indigenous organizations, community partners, health system leaders, trainees, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and research team members to support project implementation and shared learning activities.
- Organizes and coordinates meetings, advisory groups, governance tables, learning community activities, training events, workshops, and community engagement sessions.
- Supports implementation of learning cycles and quality improvement initiatives by tracking progress, coordinating activities across partners, identifying operational challenges, and supporting solutions.
- Coordinates participant recruitment and retention activities in collaboration with community partners, including the development of recruitment materials, outreach activities, participant tracking systems, and follow-up procedures.
- Coordinates project logistics, including travel arrangements, meeting scheduling, venue bookings, participant compensation, and event planning.
- Maintains ongoing communication with project partners and stakeholders to support relationship-centred and culturally responsive project implementation.

Research Operations, Data Management, and Ethics
- Coordinates research activities in accordance with approved protocols, ethics requirements, Indigenous governance processes, and project timelines.
- Supports the collection, management, quality assurance, and reporting of quantitative and qualitative data using study databases and electronic data capture systems (e.g., REDCap).
- Monitors study documentation and maintains accurate records of research activities, participant engagement,



recruitment, data collection, and project outcomes.
- Assists with the preparation, submission, and maintenance of research ethics applications, amendments, annual renewals, and related regulatory documentation.
- Supports implementation science and evaluation activities, including coordinating surveys, interviews, focus groups, meeting notes, and other project evaluation processes.
- Ensures research activities align with Indigenous data sovereignty principles and community-specific governance requirements, including OCAP® and related distinctions-based approaches where applicable.
- Assists investigators with data summaries, progress updates, and preparation of reports for funders, partners, and advisory committees.

Knowledge Mobilization, Administration, and Team Support
- Supports knowledge mobilization activities, including the development of presentations, reports, newsletters, social media content, plain-language summaries, briefing notes, and other communication materials.
- Collaborates with community and organizational partners to develop culturally relevant and accessible knowledge products for diverse audiences.
- Coordinates opportunities for reciprocal learning and feedback by organizing stakeholder consultations, community reporting events, and dissemination activities.
- Assists with budget monitoring, expense tracking, participant compensation processes, purchasing, and other financial administration activities related to the project.
- Provides coordination and mentorship support to research assistants, students, and trainees involved in project activities.
- Maintains project records, correspondence, meeting minutes, document management systems, and version control procedures.
- Performs other related duties required to support the effective operation of the research program, including scheduling, procurement, travel coordination, grant support activities, and preparation of project documentation.
