We are seeking a qualified Quality Engineer for our Ayr, Ontario location.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

- As direct customer contact for product quality, assists customers in addressing concerns and new program launches
- Champions customer monitored PPAP, Run@Rate and PSO activities, Fast Track, and corrective/preventative actions
- Participates in Advanced Product Quality Planning and error proofing activities, submits PPAP for customer review and approval
- Creates control plans, documentation, defines inspection sampling & frequency
- Plans/conducts inspection, testing, analysis & design activities to ensure product quality
- Monitors process capability through application of statistical tools




- Participates in gauge design, ensuring customer requirements are met & gauges are operator friendly
- Leads root cause analysis utilizing systemic problem-solving techniques
- Verifies effectiveness of implemented corrective actions
- Submits corrective action reports in prescribed formats for customer review and approval
- Communicates issues/findings identified during quality activities, recommending proposed solutions
- Performs Layered Process Audits and product audits as per audit schedule
- Conducts training sessions on quality and process control related subjects
- Organizes containment activities internally/ externally as required
- Recommends continuous improvement activities, product & process parameters & procedural systems.
- Conducts training sessions on quality and process control related subjects
- Provides supports to supplier component quality issues
- Recommends continuous improvement activities, product & process parameters & procedural systems.

Qualifications (education & skills required):

- Post-secondary education in Mechanical, Materials or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Prior experience with automotive manufacturing processes preferred
- Ability to effectively present solutions, propose ideas & develop/present training material
- Prior experience with APQP, PPAP, GD & T, flow diagrams, FMEAs, control plans, statistics, and fixture development based on part GD & T




- Experienced with MS Office software, Minitab, SPC software and gauge calibration/ gauge R&R; software
- Experienced in measurement techniques and instruments (optical comparator, surface testers, torque gauging, force gauging, concentricity collets)
- Applied knowledge of quality principles and FTQ, PDCA, statistical data collection and trend analysis
- Experienced with quality standards such as ISO/IATF16949
- Internal Auditor experience
- Ability to travel internationally (up to 5%)
