Your Opportunity

This position is currently in Grande Prairie. You will be working in conjunction with our LPNs as well as work with HCAs that are supervised by the Personal Support Coordinators. Additionally, you will work with Allied Health, community paramedics, EMS, lodge & other community partners.

You will be required to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team as well as with the clients and their support networks. You will provide care to clients assessing unmet healthcare/nursing needs, create care plans and authorizations for nursing services including delegation of tasks to the HCAs and LPNs. You will assist the HCAs trouble-shoot issues with the medications assistance program (MAP) & work with the LPNs to identify risks to clients and possible interventions.

You will be going to lodges, designated living support facilities of 3/4/4D and community clients’ homes, often independently. You will bring to the position strong nursing skillset in assessment & critical thinking, communication skills, positive attitude & willingness to work as part of a team as well as an ability to work independently. You will actively participate in quality improvement initiatives/chair in assigned committees/working groups/meetings.

Note: you are required to workdays, evenings, nights, weekends and on call. When working evenings, you will be working with limited staff and nights/on call overnight (only one nurse works so you are alone) where you will be called out into the community/lodge/DSL settings to address client issues. You must have available, for work purposes at all times,



a reliable vehicle with business insurance. You must be comfortable driving in any weather/road conditions/night driving.

Description

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance.

You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values.

PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).

Current Basic Cardiac Life

Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.

Additional Required Qualifications

Current CPR Reliable vehicle for work purposes, acceptable drivers abstract, business insurance for your vehicle. 3-5 years Home Care RN experience dealing with all entire age spectrum including seniors. Currently registered with CARNA as a Registered Nurse in good standing Be able to work independently as well as part of a cooperative team. Strong communication skills In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000.

This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay
