About the Program

This program serves adults aged 18-64 with complex schizophrenia-related conditions requiring intensive support. The focus is on recovery, helping clients reintegrate into the community safely and independently. Referrals from healthcare providers are required.

Qualifications

- Graduate of recognized Diploma Program in Practical Nursing;
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Knowledge of CNO Standards regarding RPN scope of practice.
- Understanding of MHA and relevant legislation.
- CPR/AED Certification within the last 2 years.
- Completion of Prevention of Violence in the Workplace training (C.P.I.) required.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
- Technical skills such as glucometer reading, vital signs, injection skills, physical assessment/mental health assessment,



catheterization, medication administration, O2 administration, basic wound care, suctioning, secure patient handling, bladder scanning, ECT recovery, skin care and feeding
- Ability to develop therapeutic relations with patients
- Ability to function as a member of the inter-disciplinary team
- Basic computer skills required

Preferred Qualifications

- Previous nursing experience working in psychiatric/mental health specialization

Language Requirements

English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, comprehension, reading and writing. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset
