Foglio Custom Book Specialists

Vaughan

Position: Part-time | 15-25 hours per week

Location: Vaughan, Ontario; primarily on-site, with some work from home possible

Compensation: Base pay plus commission on cash collected from closed sales – details to be discussed

About Foglio Custom BooksFounded on a love of books, Foglio Custom Books helps independent authors bring their manuscripts to life through editing, design, typesetting, and printing. We pair professional craftsmanship with transparent, collaborative guidance, respecting each author’s creative vision while ensuring they keep full rights and royalties.

We work diligently and efficiently to provide a dedicated service to the author, making them feel like a VIP client.

About the role

We are looking for a passionate salesperson who loves books! Someone who can build trust with authors, understand their goals, and turn prospects into paying clients. You will connect and meet with leads, follow up with cold or inactive leads, and help prospective clients make informed decisions about working with Foglio. Some prospecting will be done by the selected candidate, while other leads are generated by a third party.

You will also communicate with existing clients as their projects progress. This hands-on involvement will deepen your understanding of our services, helping you explain the process accurately and sell with confidence. Client service may become a separate role as the business evolves; for now, it is an important part of this position.

Sales and lead follow-up

· Conduct meetings with prospective clients to understand their book projects, goals, timelines, and service needs.

· Explain Foglio’s services, process, and pricing clearly, including how authors retain the rights to their work.

· Follow up consistently with cold, undecided, and inactive leads by phone, email, or scheduled meetings.

· Address questions and objections thoughtfully, communicate approved proposals, and guide suitable prospects toward a decision.

· Maintain accurate lead records, next steps, and follow-up dates; coordinate a clear handoff when a sale closes.

· Take ownership of assigned leads from initial consultation through follow-up and close, ensuring no qualified opportunity is left without a transparent next step.

· Make proactive outbound follow-up calls to prospective clients rather than relying primarily on email.

· Track sales activity and outcomes, including consultations held, follow-ups completed, proposals outstanding, closed sales, and lost opportunities.

· Execute daily cold outreach messaging through LinkedIn or other channels, as required, to generate additional leads.

Client communication and service

· Keep clients informed about project progress, upcoming steps, and any information or approvals needed from them.

· Coordinate with the production team to provide accurate updates and realistic expectations about scope and timing.

· Respond to routine questions, document client requests, and escalate technical questions or concerns to the appropriate team member.

· Use what you learn from active projects to improve sales conversations and identify opportunities to strengthen the client’s experience.

What you bring

· Sales experience, ideally in the book industry, including consistent follow-up and closing sales.

· Strong listening, speaking, and writing skills, with a patient, professional approach to service.

· Motivated and educated sales techniques, knowing when to ask for the sale, and how to overcome objections.

· Robust organization and attention to detail; ability to balance sales and service within a part time schedule.

· Comfort with email, in-person or video meetings, and customer-tracking tools; willingness to learn book preparation in order to better close deals and serve customers.

· Ability to work primarily on-site in Vaughan. Publishing, print, design, or creative services experience is an asset, not a requirement.

Compensation and working arrangement

This is a part-time position based primarily at our Vaughan location, with some remote work possible by agreement. Expected hours and the working schedule will be confirmed during the hiring process. The goal of this position is to grow into a full-time role as the business and demand grows.

Compensation combines base pay with commission on cash actually collected from sales closed. Commission is based on payments received, rather than the full value of a signed agreement. Detailed eligibility and payment timing will be set out in the compensation plan, based on the skill and experience of the selected candidate.

Notice

This is a vacancy that must be filled by one successful candidate, either for this position or another position that is also currently posted. AI will not be used in the hiring process.
