We are hiring actors for Maan Farms’ Halloween Fright Festival in Abbotsford—see the below; a resume is not necessary, but you must submit a self tape using the audition script below to be considered.

SELF TAPE REQUIRED — PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING A self tape is a short video of you performing an audition scene, recorded at home on your phone or camera. It lets us see your character, voice, movement and timing before an in-person audition. No professional equipment, editing, costume or makeup is needed. We are assessing your performance—not your filming skills.

Briefly introduce yourself, then perform the script below in character. Aim for approximately 60–90 seconds in total. Record somewhere quiet and well lit, with your face and upper body visible and your voice easy to hear. You may read the lines; memorization is not required. Use expression and movement, not just volume. No weapons, dangerous props or stunts.

AUDITION SCRIPT — CLOWN QUEEN

Any applicant may perform this character. Begin with a warm, theatrical welcome, then let the menace show through. This is an audition exercise, not a promise of a particular role.

“Hello, mortals! I’m so delighted you could join my little show tonight… where the line between nightmare and fun is thin enough to cut with a knife.

Enter CarnEvil if you dare—where your greatest fears are dressed in red noses and smiles. Test your bravery... but remember, it’s not the clowns you should fear, my sweet little lambs... oh no, it’s the dark, twisted carnival that will haunt you long after you’ve left these grounds.”

THE JOB

Maan Farms | 790 McKenzie Road, Abbotsford, BC | In person, seasonal

Pay: CA$18.25–$35 per hour, depending on demonstrated performance skills and role.

Season: September 26–October 31, 2026.

We’re a third-generation family farm that has been part of Abbotsford since 1977. Every fall, our actors turn the farm into a completely different world after dark. The sets and costumes create the world; you bring it to life.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

- Bring a frightening character to life through movement, voice, timing and improvisation.
- Perform in an assigned scene or attraction, take direction and adapt to guests.
- Follow your attraction’s safety and guest-interaction rules, including any limits on physical contact.
- Arrive reliably for preparation and shifts, care for costumes and props, and help reset your area.
- Support fellow actors and give the last group of the night the same energy as the first.

dependable people who enjoy Halloween, commit to a character and take coaching. Haunt, theatre, improv, dance, film or cosplay experience is an asset; current performers are welcome.

This is active work involving repeated movement and time on your feet, with reasonable accommodation where applicable. Expect dark and loud environments, flashing lights, theatrical fog, costumes or masks, and outdoor fall weather. Reliable transportation to and from Abbotsford, including late-night finishes, is essential.

AVAILABILITY AND 2026 SCHEDULE

Evening and weekend availability is essential. Priority goes to applicants available for all show nights, including Halloween. Depending on your assignment, call times can be between 3 and 5 p.m. Most shifts finish between 10 and 11 p.m.
