About the job:

Kent is looking for a Senior Piping Designer to join our Engineering team in Sarnia, Ontario. The successful candidate will provide senior-level piping design expertise and produce protected, accurate, constructible deliverables in collaboration with engineering and project teams. This is a fixed-term, benefits-eligible employee position anticipated at 32 hours per week.

Seasonal scheduling flexibility, including planned summer periods away from work, may be accommodated by agreement with the manager and subject to project requirements.

Skills and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

- Develop and revise piping layouts, plot plans, equipment arrangements, isometrics, and related design deliverables.
- Prepare and maintain 3D piping models and 2D drawings in accordance with project specifications, client standards, applicable codes, and Kent procedures.
- Interpret P&IDs;, line lists, equipment data, vendor drawings, specifications, and engineering information to produce coordinated designs.
- Apply piping design principles related to routing, accessibility, operability, maintainability, safety, flexibility, and constructability.
- Perform field verification, site measurements, walkdowns, and model reviews, as required.
- Coordinate piping design interfaces with process, mechanical, civil/structural, electrical, instrumentation, stress, and construction teams.
- Identify design conflicts and technical issues, recommend practical solutions, and communicate impacts to the appropriate discipline lead.
- Participate in interdisciplinary reviews, model reviews, constructability reviews, and design assurance activities.
- Check drawings and design deliverables for quality, accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
- Provide guidance and technical support to intermediate and junior designers, as required.
- Support estimating, planning, progress measurement,



and schedule commitments for assigned work.
- Maintain organized design records and incorporate approved changes throughout the project lifecycle.

These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:

- Diploma or certificate in engineering design and drafting, mechanical technology, or a related discipline; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
- Typically 10 or more years of progressive piping design experience, preferably in industrial, energy, petrochemical, refining, or related facilities.
- Strong working knowledge of piping design practices, applicable codes and standards, and the preparation of piping drawings and deliverables.
- Proficiency with relevant 3D plant design and drafting software; experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D or comparable systems is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs;, equipment layouts,



piping specifications, vendor information, and engineering documentation.
- Experience with brownfield modifications, field verification, laser-scan information, and constructability considerations is an asset.
- Strong checking, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.

Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary project team.

Communication:

- Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.
- Communicates technical information clearly and professionally in written, verbal, drawing, and model-review formats.
- Builds effective working relationships with engineering disciplines, project controls, construction, clients, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Raises design concerns promptly and contributes constructively to technical and schedule discussions.

Compensation:

Hourly Range: $65.00/hr CAD The hourly range reflects the expected compensation for this role and may vary based on skills, experience, and qualifications.
