The Shop Manager is responsible for the overall success of our truck fleet and maintenance operations. In this role, you will provide leadership, direction, and support to a team of mechanics and shop personnel to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective maintenance of our fleet. This includes responsibility for budgeting, inventory, procurement, maintenance planning, and fleet availability.

We are seeking an experienced leader who is mechanically minded, experienced in fleet management, and passionate about developing high-performing teams.

This position is accountable for overseeing shop operations, supervising mechanics and apprentices, managing workflow and productivity, and ensuring compliance with all safety, regulatory, and preventative maintenance requirements.

Key Duties:

- Lead and implement processes for Fleet management including safety, inventory, work orders, compliance, costing, and cost control. maintenance, and purchasing.
- Monitor the equipment lifecycle and the profitability of all rolling stock.
- Negotiate and manage vendor contracts, service agreements, and supplier relationships.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and systems that support departmental objectives and continuous improvement.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management to a team of mechanics, apprentices, and fleet personnel, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and teamwork.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with employees, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure all Ministry, regulatory, and Company reporting and documentation are completed accurately and within required timelines.
- Oversee shop operations and provide leadership to the maintenance team, including mechanics, apprentices, and the Trucking and Equipment Manager.
- Monitor shop productivity,



labour utilization, and workflow to maximize fleet availability and operational efficiency.
- Ensure all preventative maintenance, repairs, inspections, and regulatory compliance requirements are completed safely and in a timely manner.

- 5+ years of successfully managing and developing a team of shop employee and fleet vehicles.
- 310T licensed mechanic considered an asset.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of pickup trucks, fleet vehicles, and maintenance operations.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills with the ability to effectively manage vendors, develop stakeholder relationships, and foster employee growth.
- Experience with budgeting, cost control, procurement, inventory management and maintenance.
- Strong understanding of preventative maintenance programs, equipment utilization, and fleet performance management.
- Ability to effectively prioritize work, coordinate resources, and respond to operational demands in a rapid-paced work environment.
- Valid Class G driver's license.

Work Conditions:

- Based out of our head office in Bracebridge, Ontario, and on-site as required (this position is not remote or hybrid).
- Travel to various sites may be required.
- Indoor and outdoor environments in various weather conditions.
