General Description

StarSpec Technologies Inc. is seeking candidates for Software Support Specialist to contribute directly to a number of ongoing satellite, balloon-borne, and generally space-based technology projects as well as constellation-level satellite production. These include working directly on high profile sub-orbital payloads (NASA, ESA, CSA) as well as satellite technology missions funded through the CSA (e.g. InspireSAT, TARDIGRADE) while contributing to StarSpec satellite production at scale.

The primary role will involve supporting department leads in prototyping, testing, and validating mission-critical code and processes, generating and demonstrating conclusive performance tests that meet mission, project, and production-level requirements.

The selected candidate is expected to work closely in a small-team environment and to adhere to standard review and production mechanisms for collaboratively validating flight code under AI&T; conditions on-site. The position may also involve integration of software with client / customer infrastructure in office, with the necessary documentation to hand-off production-level software. In working with a small team, the selected candidate may be involved with software, network, and general computing tasks at StarSpec as is necessary to support larger projects and development.

This position is considered Full / Part–Time Contract starting October 2026, with opportunities to transition to Permanent Full Time over 6 months. Compensation is competitive, ranging from $38.75/hr to $43.50/hr, commensurate with experience.

Technical Requirements In order of importance and preference, the following are the requirements for the position:

- Proficiency with software-hardware integration of flight-code (i.e. mechatronics) in developing low-level, high-performance, and module software interfaces;
- Proficiency with low-level programming languages for flight code development with a preference in proficiency and experience in C and Rust programming languages;
- Proficiency in computer system maintenance,



with a preference for proficiency in Linux (Ubuntu or similar Unix-based systems);
- Proficiency in effectively utilizing AI tools and workflows with well-established engineering practices and procedures for ensuring fidelity, security, and performance;
- Experience with using project tracking, management, and code revision tools, in particular Git and GitHub;
- Experience with system networking and maintenance, in particular developing flight networks for groundstation software and servers;

General Requirements

- Bachelor’s or Graduate-level degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering Science, Engineering Physics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a remote / hybrid setting.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with clients, team members, and external partners.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for testing and flight campaigns.
