Supported Housing Worker

LOCATION: Exeter

HOURS: 37.5 hours per week

SALARY: £26,200 per year

About the Role

Are you passionate about supporting people to build brighter, more independent futures?

We’re looking for a Supported Housing Worker to join our team in Exeter, supporting people who have experienced homelessness and are ready to take the next step towards independent living.

You’ll work with people who may have experienced trauma, mental ill-health, substance misuse, domestic abuse and other complex challenges. Using a person-centred, strengths-based and trauma-informed approach, you’ll help individuals develop the skills, confidence and stability they need to successfully move on to their own tenancy.

This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You’ll build trusted relationships with clients, work closely with partner agencies and support people to make meaningful progress in their lives.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage referrals and complete needs and risk assessments.
- Develop and deliver individual support plans with clients.
- Support clients to maintain their accommodation and develop independent living skills.
- Help clients with benefits, budgeting, rent and personal finances.
- Support clients to understand their rights, responsibilities and licence conditions.
- Work proactively with partner agencies to provide joined-up, multi-agency support.
- Manage safeguarding concerns and incidents appropriately.
- Maintain accurate and timely records using our electronic case management system.




- Support clients to move on successfully into independent accommodation.
- Help maintain high standards of health, safety and security across the accommodation.
- Manage rent arrears, voids and housing-related issues in line with policies and procedures.
- Participate in the out-of-hours on-call rota.
- Contribute to team meetings, supervision and reflective practice.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is empathetic, resilient and genuinely committed to helping people achieve positive change.

You’ll ideally have experience working with people experiencing homelessness, social exclusion or other complex needs, including challenging behaviours.

Essential:

- Experience working with people with complex needs.
- Experience working in a health, social care, housing or similar setting.
- An understanding of homelessness and social exclusion.
- Experience of client assessments and support planning.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle for work purposes.
- Business insurance for work-related travel.

Desirable:

- A health or social care qualification at degree level or equivalent.
- Knowledge of the advantages system, including Universal Credit.
- Experience supporting people who sleep rough.
- Personal experience of homelessness or social exclusion.
