Minimum mandatory criteria (Stream 5.3, Intermediate)

Education: Certificate, diploma, or degree in telecommunications, information technology or computer science from a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution.

Experience: 12 months telecommunications, informatics, computer science or other relevant experience.

Additional mandatory criterion (M1)

Must clearly demonstrate 12 months of experience within the past 2 years providing technical support to an enterprise network.

Typical duties (Stream 5.3, Intermediate)

- Maintaining and monitoring existing telecommunication systems to ensure ongoing connectivity and functionality
- Evaluating and ensuring robustness of systems at the server level or higher
- Analyzing system compatibility for technical requirements such as Wide Area Network (WAN) or wireless systems compatibility for content streaming, audio and video conferencing, Web conferencing, etc. (et cetera)
- Analyzing user requirements
- Reviewing general specifications for telecommunication systems




- Developing broad system alternatives
- Identifying the administrative, operational, economic and technical feasibility of alternative solutions
- Assisting in the preparation of technical specifications, schedules and technical reports related to the functional requirements of the client department's application
- Assisting in the development and presentation of recommendations
- Assisting in the development of current, long range and strategic information technology and information management plans
- Setting up and operation of standard test equipment to diagnose, test and analyze the performance of basic electrical components, assemblies and systems
- Analyzing electrical specifications, network architecture and engineering changes
- Assisting in maintaining audio visual, information technology control systems and network inter connectivity

Contract-specific scope (Annex A)

Canada requires Telecommunication Analysis expertise to support the development of situational awareness on a variety of local area networks in operation at the Quality Engineering Test Establishment.

Tasks:

1. Conduct a physical survey to identify the computer hardware, routers, switches,



network drop locations and other computer networking equipment associated with QETE local area networks (hereafter "QETE LANs");
2. Record the manufacturer, model, serial number, version number, QETE tag, and other characteristics of the QETE LAN devices and applications in a SharePoint database;
3. For network infrastructure hardware, identify the provider, area covered, use, supported end-users, connected peripheral equipment and security details
4. Identify, update and secure access credentials to meet QETE 1-3 security requirements
5. Establish logging required for a live monitoring visual product to represent QETE LAN network coverage, status of network nodes and usage.
