Calgary Heritage Housing (CHH) is looking for a compassionate, resourceful, and experienced Tenant Support Worker to join our team on a one-year term, expected to run from October 26, 2026 - November 26, 2027.
As a Tenant Support Worker, you’ll play an important role in helping seniors successfully maintain independent living. You’ll build meaningful relationships with tenants, understand their individual strengths and needs, and connect them with the resources and supports that can make a difference in their lives.
Responsibilities
- Build positive, respectful relationships with a diverse senior tenant population.
- Provide individualized, client-centered support focused on tenant strengths and independence.
- Help tenants and families navigate community resources, healthcare, mental health, financial assistance, addictions, legal services, and other supports.
- Assist tenants with programs such as GIS, CPP, Alberta Seniors Benefit, Fair Entry, RAMP, Access Calgary, Food Bank and other community resources.
- Develop and monitor individualized support plans and maintain confidential case documentation.
- Support tenants and staff in responding to challenging situations, including wellness concerns, crisis situations and conflict.
- Work collaboratively with Building Administrators, Maintenance, Life Enrichment, families, healthcare providers and community agencies.
- Develop and deliver tenant support programming on topics such as mental health, financial management and addictions.
- Support tenants transitioning into or out of senior housing.
- Advocate for tenants who experience barriers to accessing services and resources.
- Participate in tenant engagement activities and building events.
Qualifications

- Addictions/Recovery
- Psychology
- Gerontology/Geriatrics
- Nursing
- You’ll also bring:3–5 years of experience working with older adults and/or vulnerable populations.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with advocacy and knowledge of community resources.
- Ability to manage crisis situations and effectively de-escalate conflict.
- Experience and training in trauma-informed care.
- Patience, compassion and genuine respect for seniors.
- Strong judgment, critical thinking and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent organization, prioritization and time-management skills.
- Comfort using technology, including Microsoft Office 365; Yardi experience is an asset.
- A valid driver’s licence, reliable vehicle and appropriate insurance.
- Additional languages are considered an asset.
Schedule
Monday–Thursday: 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
Friday: 8:00 a.m.–Noon
(36-hour work week)
