Young Children’s Community (Toddler) Program Assistant

As we continue to grow and strengthen our Young Children’s Community (YCC) program, Maria Montessori School is seeking an additional full-time team member to join our experienced and dedicated YCC team.

Located in the Leaside neighbourhood of midtown Toronto, Maria Montessori School has been providing high-fidelity Montessori education to children aged 18 months to 12 years for over 50 years. Our school is grounded in authentic Montessori principles and is known for its solid sense of community, long-standing history, and commitment to high-fidelity Montessori practice.

Our Young Children’s Communities support children between the ages of 18 months and 3 years within carefully prepared environments that foster independence, coordination, language, movement, and a growing sense of self.

The successful candidate will work as part of our Young Children’s Community team, supporting the daily needs of the program and contributing to calm, orderly, responsive environments for our youngest children. Depending on the needs of the program and the experience and strengths of the successful candidate, responsibilities may include supporting within a Young Children’s Community classroom as well as providing broader support across the YCC program.

Qualifications and Requirements

- Experience working with children between 18 months and 3 years of age
- Punctual and reliable, with a strong record of attendance
- A genuine interest in and respect for Montessori philosophy
- Self-motivated, observant, and responsive to the needs of children and the environment
- Able to take initiative while working collaboratively as part of a team
- Clear,



respectful, and professional communication
- RECE certification is considered a strong asset
- Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check, or willingness to obtain
- Previous Montessori experience is an asset but is not required

Position Details:

- Full-time, Monday to Friday, from start date until end of June 2027
- Regular hours of approximately 8:30am–5:00pm
- 9-month renewable contract, with the possibility of continued employment
- Start date: Fall 2026
- Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications
