Join the Team at Hazelmere Golf & Tennis Club – Turf Care Lead Hand / Senior Groundskeeper

Hazelmere Golf & Tennis Club is looking for an experienced, motivated individual to join our Turf Care Team as a Lead Hand / Senior Groundskeeper.

Wage: $23–$28 per hour, depending on experience.

Located in South Surrey, Hazelmere has been a cornerstone of the BC golf community since 1962. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, has a strong interest in turfgrass and golf course maintenance, and is ready to take on additional responsibility within a professional Turf Care operation.

The Lead Hand Role

This is more than a traditional golf course labourer position. The successful candidate will work closely with the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents while helping lead the daily work of the Turf Care crew.

Responsibilities will include

- Helping organize and direct daily crew activities.
- Operating specialized golf course maintenance equipment.
- Mowing and maintaining greens, tees, fairways and roughs.
- Assisting with irrigation, hand watering and troubleshooting.
- Assisting with fertility, plant protection and other turfgrass management programs.
- Performing and assisting with aeration, topdressing and other cultural practices.
- Course setup and daily presentation.
- Equipment cleaning, basic maintenance and adjustments.
- Identifying and communicating turf, irrigation and equipment issues.
- Taking ownership of assigned projects and ensuring work is completed safely and to a high standard.




- Assisting with training and mentoring other Turf Care employees.

What We're Looking For The ideal candidate will have:

- Previous golf course, turfgrass, landscaping or related experience.
- A robust work ethic and excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Good communication and leadership skills.
- Experience operating turf maintenance equipment.
- A willingness to learn and continue developing their turfgrass knowledge.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Weekend availability.
- A valid driver's licence is an asset.

Formal turfgrass education or previous Lead Hand experience is an asset, but we are more interested in finding the right person with the skills, attitude and desire to take the next step.
