Veterinary Practice Manager / Floor Manager:

Lead the Floor. Build the Team. Grow the Practice.

Yonge Sheppard Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced, hands-on Practice Manager to lead our day-to-day operations, support our team, patients and help drive the continued growth of our independently owned small-animal hospital in North York.

We are looking for someone with the skills to lead the day-to-day operations of the hospital, ensuring smooth workflow, high standars of care and an excellent client experience. You will work closely with Dr. Claire and Dr. Donna, our practice owners, acting as the operational lead while supporting and developing the team.

Key Responsibilities

People and Team Leadership

- Manage performance, accountability, annual reviews and disciplinary processes
- Provide timely coaching, feedback and support
- Lead difficult conversations with clarity, fairness and empathy
- Support employee development, as it pertains to career development and growth planning.
- Help maintain a positive, respectful and accountable workplace culture
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding and day-to-day HR administration

Hospital Operations

- Oversee daily hospital flow across departments
- Maintain effective staff scheduling and coverage
- Step into roles when additional support is needed




- Troubleshoot operational issues and make timely decisions
- Develop and maintain efficient systems, policies and workflows
- Ensure expectations and operational standards are clearly communicated and followed

Client Experience

- Support the team in managing client concerns and resolving conflicts
- Monitor appointment utilization, schedule efficiency and client retention
- Implement initiatives that improve client experience, hospital efficiency and revenue

Business Growth:

- manage and exectue financial budgets and targets provided by the practice owners
- improve schedule utilization and appointment flow
- identify opportinite to improve hospital systems and processes.

Training and Development

- Identify training needs across the team
- Support the onboarding and development of new employees
- Help establish consistent expectations and protocols

Who We’re Looking For The ideal candidate is mature, confident and comfortable taking ownership. We need someone who can communicate in a clear and direct manner while remaining empathetic. The ideal candidate is also willing to make decisions and hold people accountable without creating unnecessary conflict.

- At least two years of veterinary-clinic experience
- At least three years of leadership or management experience




- At least three years of customer-service experience
- Strong people-management and conflict-resolution skills
- Experience with performance management and difficult employee conversations
- A strong understanding of veterinary operations and the client experience
- Excellent organization, communication and problem-solving abilities
- The ability to remain calm, adaptable and constructive under pressure
- A hands-on, lead-by-example approach

A strong veterinary reception or client-service background is highly valued. Experience with veterinary practice management, operations, employee training or business performance is an asset.

Compensation and Schedule

- Full time, permanent position
- Five days per week in the hospital
- $60,000 annually,with higher compensation based on experience.
