The MLTC Health & Social Development Department is seeking (4) dynamic, highly motivated individuals to fill the full-time, permanent positions of a Wellness and Addictions Clinical Specialist. The Wellness and Addictions Clinical Specialists is responsible for providing culturally safe, trauma-informed, and evidence-based clinical mental health and addictions services to individuals, families, and groups experiencing mental health, addictions, trauma, grief and loss, intimate partner violence, suicide risk, crisis, and other wellness concerns. The Wellness and Addictions Clinical Specialist provide advanced clinical assessment, treatment planning, crisis intervention, case coordination, clinical consultation, and therapeutic services in alignment with the Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) Mental Health Counselling Program requirements, professional practice standards, and organizational policies. Preferred location: Main MLTC Offices in Meadow Lake; alternate location, may be considered: Buffalo Narrows Sub Office.

Duties include but are not limited to:

- Provide individual, family, and group counselling utilizing evidence-based and culturally grounded therapeutic approaches.

- Lead second-level crisis response for the MLFNs.
- Support Wellness and Addictions Counsellors with complex cases, crisis situations, and clinical consultation.
- Provide support and mentorship to crisis and HUB services.
- Coordinate referrals to external mental health, addictions, psychiatric, medical, detox, inpatient treatment, withdrawal management, and specialized services.
- Support quality assurance and continuous quality improvement initiatives across Community Wellness programming.
- Conduct clinical file reviews, case reviews,



and documentation audits to ensure compliance with professional standards, NIHB requirements, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
- Support families, communities, and service providers with coordinated intervention planning for high-risk or complex cases.
- Function as an advanced clinical resource within the Community Wellness Team.
- Develop individualized treatment, wellness, recovery, and safety plans.
- Identify system gaps, service risks, and continuity of care concerns and provide recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

- Registration with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (SASW), Saskatchewan College of Psychologists, or Registered Psychiatric Nurses Association of Saskatchewan (RPNAS).
- Registration with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) may be considered depending on experience.
- 3-5 years’ experience providing clinical mental health and addictions counselling services.
- Knowledge and experience working with trauma-informed care, crisis response, suicide intervention, addictions recovery, and Mental Health Act processes.

Preferred:

- Bachelor’s degree in social work, Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing, Psychology, or a related discipline.
- Experience working in First Nations Health Services.
- Strong clinical assessment and therapeutic counselling skills.




- Experience working with First Nations communities and knowledge of Indigenous approaches to wellness and healing.
- Commitment to culturally safe, client-centered, strength-based, and community-driven service delivery.

Other:

- Intermediate to advanced computer skills and experience with computer applications, i.e., EMR, Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access & Outlook.
- Excellent written & verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, time-management, and organizational skills.
- Work within a team setting and independently; working with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrating initiative and adaptability; prioritizing multiple demands.
- Ability to travel extensively, sometimes with short notice, and possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Preference will be given to individuals who speak either Cree or Dene.
