Workday Functional Consultant — Finance & Adaptive Planning

Preference given to candidates who can work hybrid in Vancouver, followed by candidates elsewhere in BC, then other provinces

Our client went live on Workday HCM, Payroll and Finance in 2026 and is now heading into Phase 2: implementing Workday Adaptive Planning (Nov 2026–May 2027) alongside a Big 4 implementation partner. This role is the organization's functional lead for Finance and Adaptive Planning — you'll own the configuration and data the partner builds on, review their design decisions, and keep the tenant supportable long after they roll off.

We're screening for hands-on Workday tenant depth, not general ERP experience. Adaptive Planning inherits its dimensions, data feeds, and reconciliation from the Workday tenant itself, so what matters most here is Workday Financials configuration strength — not prior Adaptive experience.

What we need:

- 5+ years of hands-on Workday configuration, majority in Workday Financials
- 2+ full implementation lifecycles,



including one in a functional lead or client-side role
- Deep Foundation Data Model (FDM) experience — worktags, cost centres, funds, grants, ledger structure — this is the single most significant qualifier, since Adaptive dimensions map directly onto it
- Workday custom reporting (Advanced, Matrix, Composite, calculated fields, RaaS)
- Position and budget configuration, including commitment accounting and position-to-budget reconciliation
- Business process/security configuration and integrations literacy (EIB, Core Connectors)
- The judgment and standing to push back on a large implementation partner's design when needed

Nice to have: Workday Adaptive Planning implementation/admin experience, fund accounting and reporting experience, Workday data conversion (EIB loads/validation). Not required: Adaptive Planning certification, recruiting/onboarding configuration, non-Workday ERP background on its own.
