Job DescriptionShape the World Around You – As aMechanical Layout Designer, you will play a key role in designing and optimizing layout for heavy industrial projects across the subsector. You will collaborate with teams and prepare 3D models, layout arrangements for plant upgrades and current facilities, review drawings and designs, and develop process diagrams, site plans through to detail.This position will be located in one of ourCanadianoffices, with preference for Northern Ontario. The Resources subsector delivers end‑to‑end solutions for clients across Canada.ResponsibilitiesPrepare 3D models and layout general arrangements for existing plant upgrades and new facilitiesReview vendor drawings to ensure conformity with engineering designs prior to fabricationPrepare design calculations and design briefsPrepare design sketchesConduct trade‑off studies and prepare reportsParticipate in field engineering assignmentsPrepare all design work related to layout general arrangements and equipment model developmentCoordinate with other disciplines to ensure timely and accurate flow of design information while maintaining departmental and client standardsMaintain and revise equipment libraries, department standards,



and proceduresAttend model reviewsQualificationsCollege Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent8+ years experience in mechanical engineering design, specifically with layout design for heavy industrial and/or mining projectsStrong understanding of mechanical equipment installation requirements in the fieldMust have consulting experienceProven experience with Plant3D, Revit, MicroStation, Solid Edge, and SmartPlantStrong communication skills (written and verbal)French language skills (written and verbal) an assetStrong interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and a desire to perform design engineeringStrong critical thinking skills and ability to problem solve effectivelyCompensationBC, AB, SK, NWT & NU: $77,400 – $102,500MB & ON: $70,600 – $97,200Atlantic Provinces & QC: $69,900 – $92,900Equal Employment OpportunityWSP welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities.
