POSITION SUMMARY

The Healing Homes Supervisor collaborateswith YCPs, other professionals, youth, and families to foster a healing processwithin the program and for individual youth via daily activities and tailoredHealing Plans. They oversee the home's daily operations, manage cases for allyouth, and handle personnel matters for the staff team. The supervisor adopts astrength-based, trauma-informed, relational approach to child and youth care.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES

TREATMENT PLANNING AND Implementation

- Workscollaboratively with YCPs and other professionals to create Healing Plans thatinclude specific goals and assessment strategies tailored for each youth,involving the agency social worker, youth, and family.
- Supportsand ensures, through supervision, that Healing Plans are effectivelyimplemented by the Youth Care Practitioners and the team
- Meetsregularly with other involved professionals for the purposes of collaboration,planning and updating the Healing Plan and daily life interaction/interventions.
- Ensuresthat all activities, routines, and interactions align with the therapeuticprinciples, the agency's overall approach, and the individual’s Healing Plan.
- Providessupervision to the Youth Care Practitioners to ensure their actions andinteractions with youth and families align with the Healing Plans and supportoverall healing and development.
- Ensuresthat the YCPs engage with youth and families using a strength-based,trauma-informed, developmental, and relational Child & Youth Care approach.

CASE MANAGEMENT

- Isresponsible for overseeing all aspects of the interventions described for allyouth, ensuring other professionals, youth, families and others' input intoclinical aspects of Healing Plans for each young person and family
- Ensuresthat the referral, intake and discharge processes are conducted in accordancewith Provincial and Agency standards and procedures
- Ensuresthat, in addition to Intake meetings, system meetings and Care Plan meetingsare scheduled quarterly for all youth and that these meetings are chaired bythemselves
- Ensuresthat all documentation is transparent, accurate, professional and complies withLicensing, Program standards and The Link policies and procedures
- Coordinatescommunication with the placing agency, external collaterals and with other Linkprograms as needed




- Participatesin hiring, supervises and evaluates all Youth Care Practitioners under theirresponsibility, in accordance with agency standards
- Maintainsstaffing to meet youth, family and program needs
- Providessupport and guidance within the program as it relates to the youth and theirHealing Plans to the staff team
- Ensuresthat the Youth Care Practitioners understand their job expectations andprovides ongoing support to meet the expectations
- Providesmentorship and training/education to the staff in helping them to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to work effectively with the youth

UNIT MANAGEMENT

- Createsand maintains, through the supervision of YCPs, a therapeutic and home-likeenvironment within the program
- Ensuresthe physical maintenance of the home and its contents and property, as well asall equipment and vehicles of the program
- Ensurescompliance with Residential Licensing, provincial program standards and TheLink standards
- Contributesto the development of the program budget and ensures all decisions pertainingto purchasing are within that budget
- Ensuresthat the scheduling of youth care staff meets the youth and program needs
- Schedulesand chairs biweekly staff team meetings focusing on unit functioning, teamfunctioning and individual youth Healing Plans,
- Developsand maintains systems to ensure effective internal communication anddocumentation.
- Implementsan on-call system that is reflective of program needs

CONTINUITY OF CARE

- Participates as amember of the Healing Homes Supervisor team; Works in consultation with otherHealing Homes Supervisors, CCMs, Therapists and the Manager of Operations toensure continuity and communication throughout, attends the Link All Managementand Program Staff meetings and contributes to the overall functioning of TheLink
- Ensures new staffmembers complete the agency orientation training as well as the orientation checklistas per licensing standards.




- Ensuresthat all Youth Care Practitioners are knowledgeable of, and comply with, allagency and program policies and procedures
- Isfamiliar with all Link Programs, activities and expectations and ensures thatthis information is distributed to the staff team
- Representsthe Healing Home Program both within and outside of The Link
- Participatesin Cultural Programming and ensures that the Staff and Youth of the program areencouraged to participate in cultural programming
- Participatesin agency functions and encourages members of the staff team to alsoparticipate in these functions

ADMINISTRATION

- Completesall administrative duties in an efficient and timely manner. This includes all tasks relating to the youth, the house, and the staff team such as monthly attendance sheets,financial documentation, supervision documentation, and time sheets.

PROFESSIONALDEVELOPMENT

- Participatesin ongoing professional development through reading, attending workshops, andconferences.

Other duties asrelated to the position and as reasonably assigned by the supervisor, or ascircumstances dictate, all within the context of The Link's Mission, Vision,and Guiding Principles as well as a strong and progressive customer service andcommunity service orientation.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

- HumanServices degree, diploma or certificate

Experience

- Atleast five years’ experience working in a group care program
- Demonstratedsupervisory and program management experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Excellentinterpersonal communication skills
- theability to be an effective team member
- Aworking knowledge of systems theory, as well as being able to operate from a developmental Child & Youth Care perspective
- Knowledgeof trauma-informed and resiliency-based frameworks for treatment and previousparticipation in competency-based training would be beneficial, and awillingness to complete the Supervisory Core Training.
- Knowledgeof a CYC approach appropriate to the supervision of staff.
- Avalid driver’s license is required.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Circle of Courageis preferred
- Completed Daily Life Events (DLE) Training and DLESupervisory Training is preferred
- Completed Therapeutic CrisisSolution Training is preferred
