Reporting to the Director of SurgicalServices, this individual will be responsible to porter instruments and medicaldevices to and from the Operating room and MDRD (SPD).

Position Responsibilities:

- Porter instruments and medical devices to andfrom the OR and SPD.
- To maintain strict confidentiality of hospitaland patient information in accordance with hospital policies.
- To ensure a healthy and protected workingenvironment in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety guidelines.
- To participate actively in the hospital andunit education/in-services.
- To maintain a positive image in relation toyour work both on and off the unit.
- To perform other duties as assigned.
- To establish and maintain good workingrelationships with departmental staff, medical staff and all other hospitalemployees.

Position Requirements:

- Must possess the ability toprovide effective services to clients/patients in both English and French.
- Must possess a grade 12education and the ability to read and write in English and be mechanicallyinclined.
- Must possess physical capacityto stand and walk within a limited area most of the working day, to handlesupplies and equipment of moderate and heavy weight, to travel short and longdistances in the hospital and stoop and bend when storing and issuing supplies.Must be able to stand for long periods.
- Must have and be able todemonstrate good organizational skills, communication skills and interpersonalskills.
- Must be alert: possess a goodmemory, pleasant personality and use tact and diplomacy.
- Must possess a willingness to perform simple,



repetitive tasks on a continuous basis and under conditions of continuous interruptions.
- Ability to be versatile and adaptquickly to an unpredictable caseload and fast paced workplace is required.
- Must be able to demonstrate theability to multi-task, be self-directed, able to work with minimal supervisionand work well under pressure.
- Employment history whichdemonstrates regular attendance at work.
- Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team.
