Our client is a well-established organization within the utilities sector seeking an experienced Category Analyst to join their Supply Chain team. This is a 1-year contract opportunity based in Airdrie, Alberta, offering a hybrid work setting.

Your New Role

As the Category Analyst, you will support strategic sourcing and category management activities with a focus on civil and electrical construction. You will independently lead complex sourcing initiatives, including full-cycle RFx processes, high-value contract negotiations, supplier management, and commercial analysis.

What You Need to Do

- Lead full-cycle RFx processes from development and market engagement through evaluation, negotiation, award, and contract execution.
- Manage strategic sourcing activities across civil construction, electrical construction, and other assigned direct-spend categories.
- Develop category and sourcing strategies aligned with operational and business requirements.
- Lead complex, high-value procurement initiatives and support commercial and contract negotiations.
- Conduct supplier, market, pricing, and commercial analysis to support sourcing decisions.
- Manage supplier relationships, performance, risk, and contractual obligations throughout the contract lifecycle.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across operations, finance, legal, and supply chain.





What You'll Need to Succeed

- 5+ years of progressive experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, category management, contract management, or a related area.
- Strong full-cycle RFx experience with the ability to independently lead complex sourcing processes.
- Experience managing high-value contracts and complex procurement initiatives. Experience with contracts valued at $100M+ is highly desirable.
- Utility supply chain experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience within civil construction, electrical construction, energy, utilities, or infrastructure is a strong asset.
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Business, Commerce, Economics, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Strong negotiation, commercial analysis, supplier management, and stakeholder management skills.
