Can you see yourself as a Port Hope Long-Term Waste Management Facility (LTWMF) Student , contributing to one of Canada's largest environmental cleanup initiatives while working alongside experienced professionals in project delivery, environmental remediation, and waste management? Do you enjoy a combination of office and field work where you can support technical projects, coordinate documentation, and help ensure key project activities move forward successfully? All students applying for student positions at CNL must be returning to full-time studies upon completion of their work term. Exceptions will be made for students who require a work term to graduate.
Department: 8617 -Historic Waste Project (HWP) Port Hope LTWMF
Number of Positions: 1
Duration: 8 Months (January -August)
Field of Study: Environmental Remediation or Administration, Engineering (all disciplines), Environmental Science, Bachelor in Science (BSc) or a related program.
Year of study: 2nd or 3rd year
What you will be doing!
- Supporting the planning, coordination, and implementation of technical work packages associated with remediation and construction projects.
- Assisting with activities related to the Long-Term Waste Management Facility and other major remediation sites.
- Supporting the review of technical studies, reports, and project documentation to help ensure quality and accuracy.
- Assisting project teams with technical deliverables and project support activities.
- Supporting field oversight activities and site operations as required.
- Collecting, tracking, organizing, and filing project information and data.
- Coordinating the receipt, management, and upload of electronic documents and drawings into project databases.
- Maintaining project records and supporting document control activities.
- Assisting with operational and construction-related activities on-site.
- Participating in team meetings and supporting project communication activities.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
- Education
Currently enrolled in a College or University program related to:
- Environmental Remediation.
- Environmental Administration.
- Engineering (all disciplines).
- Environmental Science.
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) or a related program.
- Experience
- Experience or academic exposure to environmental remediation, construction projects, municipal infrastructure, or project coordination is considered an asset.
- Experience gained through co-op placements, summer employment, academic projects, volunteer activities, or extracurricular involvement is considered an asset.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and current situations.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally with a variety of stakeholders and team members.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Demonstrated initiative, professionalism, and willingness to take on new challenges.
- Applied computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Adobe products.
- Demonstrated ability to collect, organize, and maintain project documentation and records.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a positive and customer-focused approach.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom.
CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions:
- Working schedule: Five (5) days per week, seven and a half (7.5) hours per day for a thirty-seven and a half (37.5) hour work week.
