Support the Nisga'a culture as a Language & Culture Assistant at Alvin A. McKay Elementary School. This part time position (5.5 hours daily) enhances K-7 education through language integration. Nisga'a School District No. 92 is looking for a passionate assistant for a term running from September 8, 2026, to June 25, 2027.

Your role entails close collaboration with classroom teachers and the Nisga'a Language teacher to fortify students’ language skills. Ideal candidates will actively promote the dimensions of Nisga'a culture and heritage in a classroom setting. Key Responsibilities:
Assist in K-7 classrooms with language instruction
Collaborate on language and cultural education
Coordinate with the Nisga'a Language teacher regularly
Engage parents and community in educational processes
Develop and facilitate culturally relevant activities Requirements:
High school diploma (Grade 12) required
Familiarity with Nisga'a culture and language practices
First Nations Language Essentials training preferred
Fluent in Nisga'a language or eager to learn more
Experience in elementary education settings Contribute to enriching the educational experience through the Nisga'a Language and cultural teachings.
