- The candidate will be responsible for cleaning sinks, toilets, urinals, mirrors, towel dispensers, windows, and other furnishings.
- The candidate will be responsible for sweeping, mopping floors and stairs, and vacuuming carpets to maintain cleanliness standards.
- The candidate will be responsible for emptying, cleaning, and maintaining waste containers as required.
- The candidate will be responsible for cleaning walls, light covers, venetian blinds, vents, doors, and radiators within arm’s reach.
- The candidate will be responsible for lifting, carrying, and moving supplies and furnishings as required.
- The candidate will be responsible for operating cleaning equipment, including vacuums and carpet sweepers.
- The candidate will be responsible for cleaning equipment, replacing vacuum bags, and reporting equipment malfunctions.
- The candidate will be responsible for identifying and reporting building and equipment repairs as required.
- The candidate will be responsible for replenishing cleaning and paper supplies as required.
- The candidate will be responsible for watering flowers and plants as required.




- The candidate will be responsible for responding to emergency evacuations and safely transporting able and disabled residents as required.
- The candidate must work in accordance with applicable Health and Safety legislation and follow all City of Hamilton corporate and departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety.
- The candidate will be responsible for performing other assigned duties that are directly related to the primary responsibilities of the position.

Job Requirements

- The candidate must possess previous cleaning experience acquired through a combination of relevant education and practical work experience.
- The candidate will be preferred if they have prior experience performing cleaning duties in a health-care setting.
- The candidate must possess previous experience operating cleaning equipment, including vacuums, carpet sweepers, and mops, within a health-care facility.
- The candidate must demonstrate the ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- The candidate must demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and maintain respectful working relationships with peers and seniors in a Long-Term Care facility.
- The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of cleaning methods, infection control procedures, materials, and equipment used in a health-care environment.
- The candidate must demonstrate the ability to successfully complete and apply knowledge gained through in-service training.

Work conditions and physical capabilities

- The candidate must be physically capable of lifting and carrying up to 15 kilograms and applying pushing and pulling force of up to 14.4 kilograms as required.
