Lead advocacy efforts for Kitasoo Xai’xais families as a Child Welfare Advocate in Klemtu. Safeguard rights and promote cultural integrity in child services. As a Child Welfare Advocate, you represent the Kitasoo Xai’xais Nation's interests in systems involving local children and families.
This full time role requires a commitment to cultural advocacy and effective navigation of complex child welfare processes. Your work ensures families receive culturally relevant support and guidance. Key Responsibilities:
Support families in understanding their rights and systems
Attend and represent at key meetings and court sessions
Facilitate cultural engagements for children outside the community
Liaise between families and child welfare agencies
Maintain confidential case records and reporting Requirements:
Diploma in Child & Youth Care or similar preferred
Relevant experience in advocacy or social work
Knowledge of Indigenous rights and child welfare laws
Excellent communication and support skills
Valid Class 5 BC driver's license and transparent background check Support Kitasoo Xai’xais families in navigating child welfare while reinforcing cultural identity and community values.
