Senior Canadian Privacy Attorney – Data Privacy & Cross-Border Transfers

Consilio Canada is seeking an experienced Senior Privacy Attorney with sophisticated Canadian privacy and data protection experience to support a high-profile legal engagement.

The ideal candidate will have substantial experience advising organizations on Canadian privacy requirements, complex data protection matters, and cross-border data transfers involving Canada and other jurisdictions, including the United States.

Key Responsibilities
Provide senior-level legal counsel regarding Canadian privacy and data protection requirements
Advise on cross-border data transfers, data-sharing arrangements, and related privacy considerations
Analyze privacy implications associated with transferring, accessing, processing, and storing personal information across jurisdictions
Draft, review, and negotiate privacy and data protection provisions in commercial agreements
Advise stakeholders on privacy compliance, risk mitigation, data governance, and information-management practices
Assess privacy issues involving vendors, service providers, and third-party data-processing relationships




Provide practical guidance regarding evolving Canadian privacy requirements and regulatory developments
Collaborate with legal, compliance, information security, and business stakeholders on complex privacy matters

Required Qualifications
Law degree and authorization to practice law in a Canadian jurisdiction
Senior-level legal experience with a substantial focus on privacy, data protection, and information governance
Solid knowledge of Canadian privacy laws and regulatory requirements, including PIPEDA and applicable provincial privacy legislation
Demonstrated experience advising on cross-border data transfers and international data-sharing considerations
Experience drafting and negotiating privacy, data protection, data-processing, and information-security contractual provisions
Ability to independently manage sophisticated privacy matters and provide practical, business-focused legal advice
Excellent legal research, analytical, drafting, and communication skills

Experience with international privacy frameworks, including matters involving the GDPR and U.S. privacy requirements, is highly desirable.

Compensation: C$262–C$345
