The lawyer will manage a team of lawyers and law clerks and be responsible for providing and managing the delivery of legal and regulatory advice on products, initiatives, strategies, policies and developments for and on behalf of BMO Financial Group with a focus on repos, securities lending, derivatives, and commodities transactions and related activities with BMO’s clients. Provides legal advice based on knowledge of legal principles, practices and procedures, and knowledge of the financial services industry and its environment. Influences and negotiates to achieve business objectives.



Works to achieve organizational goals while minimizing legal risk. Works to deliver legal advice (60%), provide legal oversight (20%) and issues management (20%). Responsibilities Acts as a subject matter expert on relevant laws, regulations and policies relating to repos, securities lending, listed and OTC derivatives, including options, forward contracts, futures, swaps and other derivatives instruments used for both hedging and non-hedging purposes. Drafts and negotiates securities finance and derivatives documentation, including GMRAs, MRAs, MSLAs, MSFTAs, Sponsored Repos, ISDAs, credit support annexes,
