ESL/EAL Instructor, Part-time Evenings

We are currently looking for 1 instructor (6hrs/week) to teach the Beginner level (CLB 1-2) from September. Classes are Mondays & Wednesdays, 6pm-9pm. Evening classes have a 22-week term. The fall term is September 14, 2026, to February 24, 2027, and the spring/summer term is March to August.

CCI-LEX offers General ESL classes for adult learners from Beginner to Advanced levels (Pre-Benchmark to CLB 7), as well as classes for communication skills, writing Skills and workplace language. Responsibilities:

• Follow CCI-LEX’s curriculum framework and utilize the assigned integrated skills textbook (American English)
• Develop, select and prepare instructional materials that will support and enhance students communicative abilities
• Present a variety of instructional methods and strategies, appropriate to adult learners and their level of English
• Assess the needs, objectives and progress of students and provide appropriate feedback regarding their strengths,
  
  
  
  opportunities and overall progress as needed
• Promote cooperation, tolerance and active participation in class
• Maintain appropriate records of class materials, lesson plans, students’ attendance, etc.
• Work as a member of a team of teachers and maintain clear communication with administration

What we’re looking for:

• TESL Canada Skilled Standard Level One Certification or eligibility for certification
• Post-secondary education (Bachelors Degree or higher) in Education, Linguistics or a related field
• 1-2 years teaching experience with adult English language learners
• Proven lesson planning and assessment skills, as applicable to adult learners
• Experience working with diverse groups and/or vulnerable populations (desired)
