This position is responsible for financial and program monitoring and reporting for Dufferin Oaks and Community Support Services. In addition, this position inputs transaction batches and reports on problem areas within the accounts.What we can offer YOU!A competitive hourly wage ranging between $45.81 - $53.59 (January 1, 2026 Non-Union Pay Grid); Hybrid work arrangementsEnrolment in our comprehensive health benefits program and defined benefit pension planAccess to Perkopolis; discount, reward and benefits programAccess to an Employee and Family Assistance ProgramUnlimited access to live and interactive webinars offered by the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion (CCDI)A supportive and collaborative work environmentWhat you’ll doPrepare year-end schedules for Auditors and assists them during their visitsPrepare for month end by reconciling all bank accounts, inputting month end adjustments, investigate imbalances and prepare monthly financial statementsPerform reconciliation of balance sheet accounts including investigation of outstanding amountsPerform financial analysis, interpret and analyze information to identify issues, opportunities and provide recommendations to ensure financial compliance of programsInvestigate discrepancies in operating accounts and prepare correcting entries as needed, with emphasis on Dufferin Oaks and Community Support ServicesProcess and issue County invoices, perform follow-up collections duties and maintain Accounts Receivable filesComplete annual Ministry returns for Dufferin Oaks,
Community Support Services for review by auditors and submission to MinistriesComplete a variety of regular reports for Dufferin Oaks and Community Support Services including uploading to the appropriate ministry web portalPrepare ministry reports including various statistical reportsAssist with coordination of data for the operating budget particularly for Dufferin Oaks and Community ServicesServes as backup for Accounts Payable and Cash ReceiptsAid County staff on the use of financial software applicationsSuggest and develop improvements to County Financial Policies and Procedures for review by Manager of Corporate Finance, Treasurer or Deputy TreasurerConduct special projects as required by Accounting Manager or Deputy TreasurerOther duties as assignedWhat you’ll bringDegree or diploma in Accounting or Business AdministrationMinimum 3 years of work experience in a similar positionKnowledge of public sector accounting, financial reporting, auditing and financial control policy and proceduresAbility to work independently and within a team environmentAbility to be flexible and responsive in a agile environmentStrong analytical skills pertaining to research, data analysis and report-writingStrong organizational skills and ability to prioritize to meet strict deadlinesAbility to interact effectively and courteously with all levels of staff and contacts in a customer service focused environment; able to build cooperative, collaborative working relationships with internal and external customers and vendorsAdvanced expertise in Microsoft software including Excel, Word, Outlook, and SharePointChartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is an assetPrevious experience working with Provincial Ministry programs is preferredWorking knowledge of accounting, budget, and banking systemsKnowledge of Ministry funding processesSuitable work from home environment including reliable high speed internetA successful police record checkThe County of Dufferin strives to provide exceptional customer service to all its residents and visitors.
