About the Role

The Company is seeking an Associate Vice President and Senior Counsel for Litigation to join their Canadian team. The successful candidate will be a key leader, providing practical and timely legal representation and advice on a variety of legal disputes, with a focus on life, health, and disability-related litigation.
This role involves leading a team of legal professionals, contributing to the strategic leadership of the team, and interacting with senior management on a regular basis. The AVP & Senior Counsel will be responsible for offering deep litigation experience, managing day-to-day requests for litigation advice, and overseeing external counsel.

Team leadership is a critical aspect of the position, including coaching, mentoring, and developing team members,



as well as leading the implementation of strategic team initiatives.

Applicants must be a member of the Law Society of Ontario or Manitoba, with a strong preference for those also in another provincial bar. A minimum of 10 years' of relevant work experience is required, with a proven track record of leading and coaching a team of legal professionals.
The role demands excellent communication skills, superior negotiating abilities, and a thorough understanding of court procedures. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, adaptable, and have a growth-oriented mindset, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
