Position Overview

The firm is seeking a talented and driven Commercial Litigation Lawyer to join their growing team. This role offers the opportunity to handle a diverse and sophisticated caseload within a general commercial litigation practice, ranging from complex contractual disputes to commercial mortgage enforcement and debt recovery. The ideal candidate is a proactive advocate who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to delivering exceptional results for a broad client base.

Key Responsibilities

Litigation Files: Handle a wide array of general commercial litigation matters from initial intake through to trial, mediation, or enforcement of judgments.

Commercial Mortgage Enforcement: Manage secured debt recovery and mortgage enforcement proceedings as part of a comprehensive commercial dispute practice.

Advocacy: Represent clients before various levels of court and administrative tribunals, including appearing for motions, discoveries, and hearings.

Strategic Drafting: Prepare high-quality legal documents, including pleadings, motion records, facta, and legal opinions.

Client Advisory: Act as a primary point of contact for clients, providing strategic legal advice that balances legal risk with commercial reality.

Team Collaboration: Work closely with a dedicated team of lawyers,



law clerks, and assistants to ensure files are managed efficiently and court deadlines are met.

Strong Advocacy: Solid written and oral advocacy demonstrating the ability to articulate complex legal arguments persuasively.

Analytical Thinking: Ability to quickly assess complex legal issues, identify risks, and develop effective litigation strategies across varied dispute types.

Qualifications

Minimum of 3+ years of litigation experience (commercial litigation and enforcement experience is a strong asset)

Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario (LSO)

Strong knowledge of the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure and court filing processes

Excellent research, drafting, and negotiation skills

Proficiency with modern practice management software, CaseLines, and ACL
