Canada Life is seeking a Director, Strategy to join the Workplace Benefits and Retirement (WBR) division. This team operates at the center of the group benefits business, advising senior leaders on complex, high-impact strategic issues.

As a Director, you will support enterprise and business unit strategic planning, lead initiatives that drive growth, and advance key business priorities. You will work closely with partners across functions to shape, align, and execute initiatives that strengthen the division’s market position and drive innovation.

This role reports to the AVP, Strategy, within Canada Life’s Workplace Benefits and Retirement division.

What you will do:

Lead strategic initiatives

Lead high-impact strategic initiatives across Canada Life’s WBR business

Apply structured approaches and analytics to generate clear, actionable recommendations Shape strategic direction and contribute to setting the team’s intellectual agenda

Develop and deliver compelling presentations, business cases, and communications Drive growth and go-to-market strategy

Support the development and execution of go-to-market strategies for new and existing initiatives Conduct market assessments and competitive analysis to inform strategic decisions

Identify and evaluate opportunities for growth, including new products, capabilities, and segments Partner with senior leaders and peers to design, refine, and implement initiatives

Build team capability and culture

Contribute to and foster a high performing, collaborative, and inclusive team environment Coach and mentor junior team members to support their development

Share knowledge and best practices across the team and organization

What you will bring:

6–10+ years of experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, or a related field

Proven ability to lead complex,



cross-functional initiatives from problem definition through execution Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with experience translating data into clear, actionable

recommendations

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing materials for and engaging senior stakeholders

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a rapid-paced environment

Preferred qualifications

Experience in financial services, group benefits, retirement, or a related industry

Track record of influencing senior stakeholders and driving alignment on strategic decisions Experience developing go-to-market strategies and supporting execution of growth initiatives

Undergraduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering); advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) is an asset

The base salary for this position is between $114,200 - $164,200 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
