The intent of this process is to staff two (2) positions: one (1) 24-month term appointment with the possibility of extension, acting, assignment, secondment, or exchange and one (1) indeterminate appointment. This process also aims to create a pool of partially and fully qualified candidates that may be used to staff similar term or indeterminate positions within both Agencies.

What you will do
As an Evaluation Manager, your responsibilities will include:

Leadership and direction in the delivery of performance measurement, evaluation and review services including the provision of strategic and authoritative advice to senior management of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC)'s, Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC)'s and Inter-Agency programs and other external stakeholders to optimize the effective and sound evaluation, assessment, and analysis of the performance of NSERC's, SSHRC's and Inter-Agency programs and associated policies.

Education

Master’s degree from a recognized university with a specialisation in evaluation, economics, sociology, statistics, or social sciences research methods, OR an acceptable combination of education, training, and relevant work experience with a specialization in one of these fields. A graduate diploma in program evaluation would also be acceptable.

Extensive 1 experience conducting evaluations of programs, including those involving multiple organizations, consistent with the Federal Government's policies related to evaluation.

Extensive 1 experience applying a range of evaluation methods, including both qualitative and quantitative techniques.

Experience supervising or managing human resources.

Extensive 1 experience analyzing data, synthesizing evaluation findings and presenting results to senior management.





Experience evaluating research or research related activities, and/or grants and contribution programs would be an asset .

1 Extensive is equivalent to five (5) or more years of experience.

Knowledge

Knowledge of program evaluation theory and practices, including federal government performance measurement and evaluation policies/standards.

Knowledge of evaluation methods and approaches, including qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques.

Knowledge of project management principles.

Knowledge of the post-secondary research funding setting, the research process and the transfer of research results to the user sector would be an asset .
