Leduc County is looking for an experienced and highlymotivated Planner – Development Services to join our team. Reporting to the Manager– Development Services, this exciting opportunity providesinformation, assistance and advice on subdivision and development processes andassists in plan preparation and review. Through managing priorities, the Planneris a key contributor to the achievement of the department’s operationaldeliverables.

What you will do Acts as a Development Officer for LeducCounty and assists with the investigation and analysis of developmentplanning issues and Land Use Bylaw administration, monitoring andenforcement.
Reviews, evaluates and makes decisions ondevelopment permit applications, compliance certificates and varianceapplications, within the parameters of policy and legislation.
Investigates complaints related tocompliance and decides ensuing actions that may include the issuance oforders pursuant to the Land Use Bylaw and the Municipal Government Act .
Supports the preparation of land use andstatutory plans.
Provides information, planning advice andadvisory support services to the public, Council, Subdivision Authority,Subdivision and Development Appeal Board, and other departments.
Researches and carries out special projects,studies and reports as assigned.
Reviews and processes subdivisionapplications and prepares and administers subdivision developmentagreements in accordance with design standards and applicable legislation.
Assists the Senior Planner – DevelopmentServices with the delivery of public consultation and public hearingprocesses.




Prepares advertising and public notices inaccordance with the statutory requirements and County policy.
Adheres to guidelines as set out in LeducCounty’s policies and administrative directives.
Accountable for working in compliance withthe Alberta Occupational Health andSafety Act, Regulation and Code and participation in the Health,Safety and Wellness Program.
Performs related duties as required.
What you need to succeed Must-have · A degree in planning or a related discipline.
· Two (2) years of experience.
· Must maintain or be eligible for membership in the AlbertaDevelopment Officers Association or the Canadian Institute of Planners.
· Knowledge and understanding of legislation and land use bylawsrelated to land development in Alberta, the Alberta Land Titles system, Municipal Government Act , and associatedregulations.
· The ability to read and interpret engineering plans andspecifications; planning, environmental, and socio-economic reports; andbuilding and site plans.
· Must be able to review, interpret and evaluate statutory plans,land use, subdivision and development proposals.
· Must be able to effectively communicate complex technicalinformation and provide consistent, friendly, professional customer service tointernal and external customers in the face of ongoing change, regularinterruptions and the pressure of deadlines.
· The ability to deliver presentations, and prepare clear, concisereports.
· Proficiency with computer assisted design, Microsoft Office andother database.
· Experience working with teams.
Nice to have · Familiarity with municipal operations and knowledge of ruralcommunities.

We offer a competitive annual salary of between $78,533.00and $98,165.00.
The opportunity is temporary full time (18 months) and is 35hours per week scheduled Monday to Friday, with some extended hours to meetoperational requirements. The office is located at 101-1101 5 St. Nisku, AB.
