About the Team The Ministry of Social Services supports vulnerable people and families as they build a better quality of life.
We help people with their immediate needs and provide supports for: families to safely care for their children, children and youth in care to be successful, people with disabilities to access community-based services, access to affordable housing, and income assistance to meet people’s basic needs as they work to become self-sufficient to the best of their abilities.
Together with Indigenous and community partners, we work to make a positive difference in the lives of our clients every day.
ABOUT THE JOB The Opportunity:
As Financial Support, you will provide a variety of financial and administrative support in your position which include accounts payable and receivable for a variety of program areas such as Child and Family Services, Income Assistance, Community Living Division and Administrative Support.
Responsibilities Analyzes financial and tax statements,
interprets and applies relevant policies and procedures, and reviews information sources (e.g., Financial Administration Manual, Purchasing Regulations, Federal and Provincial Tax guidelines, cost share and service level agreements) to improve accounting controls and processes.
May perform budget analyses, fiscal forecasting, trend analyses, financial reporting analyses and preparation.
May analyze reports for compliance with proper accounting policies, and audits financial information including expenditure recording and revenue collection.
Resolves queries, conflicts and exceptions regarding the processing of payments and/or receivables.
Resolves problems relating to exception processing, and/or requests that have been put on hold, are incomplete or do not adhere to standards/guidelines.
Performs audits of administrative functions where required ensuring accountability processes and procedures are followed.
Contributes to the development and maintenance of internal operating procedures in the functional area of responsibility.

Applicable accounting principles and/or procedures in order to process payments and understand payment systems;
Computer hardware, software packages and databases to process payments in a number of programs
Answer inquiries and ensure accuracy of client information;
Word processing/spreadsheet manipulation to compose letters and enter information into spreadsheets; and
Applicable Acts, regulations, policies, procedures, contracts and agreements.
