You will play a key role in developing transportation policy and analyzing the city's mobility projects such as The Urban Freight Goods Movement Strategy, Modal Priority Networks and Edmonton’s mass transit network. Working with a diverse team of professionals, you will provide your engineering expertise to ensure that Edmonton's growth is smart, sustainable, and serves all its citizens. This position requires a creative and analytical mind that can navigate the complexities of city-building and advocate for innovative mobility solutions. You will be a key contributor to The City Plan, helping to shape a more connected and accessible Edmonton for generations to come!What will you do?Under the direct supervision of the Senior Engineer, you will:Support the development of complex, strategic engineering studies for the planning and assessment of the city's multi-modal transportation networkDevelop, manage, and analyze transportation network geospatial data and create network maps using ArcGISProvide initial reviews of engineering design drawings and technical reports from a policy perspectiveCollect data, set up models and interpret transportation demand model outputs from software like EMME, Synchro, or VISSIMApply municipal, provincial, national, and international engineering design guidelines and standards to your workLead and manage smaller-scale mobility studies and tasks,



including preparing project charters, budgets, and schedulesCollaborate with internal and external Community Partners, collaborate with external consultants on a variety of projects and workflowsPrepare engagement materials and facilitate engagement sessionsDevelop and maintain effective working relationships with other City departments, consultants, and Community Partner groupsAssist in drafting council reports, presentations, and other official documentsRepresent the section and branch at meetings with internal and external Community PartnersPerform other related duties as assignedQualifications:Bachelor's Degree or higher in Civil Engineering with coursework in Transportation Engineering or Transportation PlanningMembership with APEGA as Engineer-in-Training (EIT) and working towards a P.Eng is a requirement. Registration with APEGA must be obtained prior to commencement of employmentSkills required for success:Technical Expertise in Transportation and Planning: Required knowledge of transportation engineering principles and practices, including the ability to apply engineering principles related to land use and transportation planning, transit planning, traffic operations, and transportation designProfessional and Regulatory Adherence: A deep understanding of and adherence to all APEGA regulations and standards is essentialCommunication and Influence: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are necessary to collaborate, present materials, and influence others toward a shared vision and goalsTeamwork and Problem-Solving:
