Purpose of Position Instructors work one-to-one with adult learners (age 18+), delivering individualized and comprehensive learning support that is neuroaffirming, strengths-based, and evidence-based in our Adult Learning and Skills for Trades Programs
Principal Roles and Responsibilities Deliver one-to-one instruction in our Vancouver Location, both in-person and live online across two programs: Adult Learning, and Skills for Trades
Create andmaintaina learning environment that isneuroaffirming, strengths-based, and enjoyable for all learners
Identifylearner strengths and challenges through informal and formal assessment
Draw from multiple resources and curricula, develop and implement year-long learning plans and daily lesson plans for your assigned learners that are individualized,neuroaffirming, strength-based, evidence-based,



technology-enhanced and linked to measurable learning goals
Provide formal and informal written progress reports, with or without the use of assistive technology
Requirements & Competencies Successful candidates for the instructor role have the ability to perform the above-listed principal roles and responsibilities with minimal to moderate support.This typically requires the following experience and competencies.
Experience working with adults with diagnosed or suspected learning differences
Experience in strengths-based,neuroaffirminglearning environments and/or a demonstrated eagerness and ability to quickly adapt to this type of environment
Experience using structured, systematic, and explicit instructional approaches
Experience teaching the following: literacy concepts using a structured literacy/Science of Reading approach, math focused on building conceptual understanding, and support for executive functioning, sensory processing, or social-emotional learning. Open positions may listadditionalspecific required instructional experience.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with or without the use of assistive technology
Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset
Demonstrated commitment to our charitable mission
Self-motivated and self-directed
Ability to provide a criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening
Eligibility to work in Canada
Skill Trades experience (asset)
Job type and hours of work: Part-Time Contract or Full-time (30-37.5 hours per week)
Contract instructors work between 6 and 20 hours per week, plus paid prep time of up to 20 minutes per session. Contractors select set weekly days and times they are available for online sessions, and must maintain the same availability from September to June,



without disruption. Contractors are responsible for invoicing monthly for their hours worked and are not eligible for extended benefits. Available hours are:
Any/All weekdays 11:30am to 7:30 pm PST
Saturdays 9:00 am to 5:00pm PST
Full time instructors work 20 - 37.5 hours per week, plus a 30-minute unpaid break per day. They are primarily in-person, with some online sessions if needed/requested by learners. They work either Monday-Friday or Tuesday to Saturday, or some combination therein.

Reports to: Instructors report to the Senior Manager,Youth and Adult Programs, and work closely with their assigned Case Manager(s) during the academic term.
Remuneration and Benefits: $28.00 - $33.00 per hour (contract)
$56,000 - $61,000 per annum (salaried) - based on 37.5 hour per week.
