Position Description
This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our downtown Toronto and/or Client office at a minimum 2 days per week subject to change at any time.
We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer (QE) with strong hands-on functional testing expertise to support complex enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will have experience testing web, API, backend, and integrated systems, with a strong understanding of System Integration Testing (SIT), end-to-end testing, regression testing, and defect management.
This role requires strong analytical and communication skills, along with the ability to independently manage testing activities, identify risks and dependencies, and collaborate effectively with technical teams and client stakeholders.
Your future duties and responsibilities
Analyze business requirements, user stories, functional specifications, and solution designs to develop comprehensive test scenarios and test cases.
Perform hands-on functional testing across web, API, backend, and integrated applications.
Execute SIT, integration, regression, smoke, and end-to-end testing.
Validate business processes, data flows, interfaces, and upstream/downstream system integrations.
Identify, document, track, and manage defects through resolution in collaboration with developers, business analysts, and delivery teams.
Prepare and maintain test plans, test scenarios, test cases, test data, execution reports, and test completion summaries.
Participate in requirement walkthroughs, sprint planning, backlog refinement, defect triage, daily stand-ups, and release-readiness discussions.
Proactively identify requirement gaps, functional risks, integration dependencies, data issues, and potential production impacts.
Ensure appropriate test coverage and traceability across requirements, test cases, defects, and business scenarios.
Provide clear reporting on testing progress, defects, risks, blockers, dependencies, and overall quality status.
Execute, maintain, and troubleshoot existing automated test suites and identify opportunities to automate repeatable regression scenarios.
Follow established QE standards, quality gates, processes, documentation, and governance requirements.
Collaborate effectively with onshore/offshore teams and client stakeholders to support timely, high-quality delivery.
Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role
3–5 years of hands-on experience in Quality Engineering, Software Testing,
or Functional Testing within complex enterprise environments.
Robust hands-on experience in functional software testing, including independently analyzing requirements and developing detailed test scenarios and test cases.
Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, defect lifecycle, test planning, test execution, and QA principles.
Hands-on experience with SIT, integration, end-to-end, and regression testing.
Strong ability to identify functional gaps, negative scenarios, boundary conditions, data issues, and business risks.
Experience testing complex applications involving multiple systems, APIs, interfaces, and upstream/downstream dependencies.
Experience with test and defect management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, ALM, Zephyr, Xray, or similar.
Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to independently manage testing deliverables and proactively escalate risks, blockers, and dependencies.
Experience within banking, financial services, or another complex enterprise environment is preferred.
Nice to Have
Exposure to automation tools/frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, WebdriverIO, or UFT.
Programming or scripting experience with Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or C#.
Exposure to API automation, CI/CD pipelines, Git/source control, and automated regression testing.

Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $55,000–$105,000. This role is an existing vacancy."
