Senior Cloud Engineer – (GCP + Java Development)

We're hiring a hands-on Cloud Engineer to own the design, build, and operations of highly available, cloud-native applications on Google Cloud Platform. You'll build scalable Java/Spring Boot services, architect resilient GCP solutions, and keep production systems secure, reliable, and performant — working closely with Engineering, DevOps, SRE, and Product to deliver HA/DR-ready systems built on GCP and Cloud Spanner.

Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and deploy applications on GCP, including multi-region, highly available deployments
- Build cloud-native architectures using Cloud Run, GKE, Compute Engine, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, IAM, and VPC
- Develop enterprise Java (11/17) applications and RESTful microservices with Spring Boot
- Design and manage Cloud Spanner in production — schema design, performance tuning, and database migrations
- Own HA and DR architecture: failover strategies, resilience testing, and business continuity planning
- Support production environments, troubleshoot incidents, and drive root cause analysis
- Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and operational dashboards




- Build CI/CD pipelines and manage Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
- Deploy containerized workloads via Docker and Kubernetes (GKE preferred)
- Apply cloud security best practices — IAM policies, network security, encryption, compliance
- Drive performance tuning, cost optimization, and capacity planning

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field
- 6+ years in Software Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or Platform Engineering
- 5+ years hands-on Java development
- 5+ years hands-on GCP experience
- 3+ years hands-on production experience with Cloud Spanner
- 3+ years designing/operating multi-region GCP deployments
- 4+ years owning HA, DR, failover strategy, resilience testing, or production ops on GCP
- Strong background in Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices
- Experience with CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform
- Agile experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, or equivalent
- GCP certification (Associate Cloud Engineer or Skilled Cloud Architect) strongly preferred
