Role: Senior/Lead Java Engineer – E-Trading & Low-Latency Systems

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

Responsibilities:

- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance applications for e-trading, pre-trade, and front-office trading platforms.
- Develop scalable, reliable, and low-latency services using Core Java and Java 17/21.
- Perform high-level and low-level design for complex distributed systems.
- Implement multithreaded and concurrent applications using Java concurrency frameworks and up-to-date programming techniques.
- Evaluate and apply Java Virtual Threads where appropriate to improve scalability and resource utilization.
- Optimize application performance, throughput, latency, CPU utilization, memory usage, and garbage collection.
- Build event-driven and asynchronous solutions using Solace messaging or equivalent enterprise messaging technologies.
- Design and implement messaging flows using queues, topics, guaranteed delivery, persistence, retries, acknowledgments,



and recovery mechanisms.
- Support pre-trade workflows, order processing, trade capture, order routing, risk checks, and execution-related services.
- Collaborate with product managers, business analysts, traders, architects, and technology teams to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Participate in architecture reviews, design discussions, code reviews, and technical decision-making.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues involving application performance, concurrency, messaging, and distributed systems.
- Develop unit, integration, regression, and performance tests to ensure software quality and reliability.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, observability, and production monitoring.
- Explore and implement appropriate use cases for AI and Generative AI, including AI-assisted development, automation, analytics, documentation, testing, and operational support.
- Mentor junior and senior engineers and promote coding standards, clean architecture, and engineering best practices.
- Produce technical documentation, architecture diagrams, sequence diagrams, and operational runbooks.
