Job Title: Social Media & Content Manager

Reports to: Chief Communications Officer

Department: Communications

Employment Type: 12-month Staff

FLSA: Exempt

Posted: September 22, 2026

St. Andrew’s School develops the independence, character, mind, and spirit of its students to prepare them for lives of citizenship, service, and purpose. Be at the center of this mission by joining the school as our social media & content manager, a key member of the communications department.

All our students live, learn, and play in the natural beauty of our 2,200-acre campus. At the center of our community are curious, motivated, and diverse students who are accepted without regard to their families’ means. Each young person is challenged and valued, and students are truly known by the life-long mentors who teach, coach, and advise them. Human connection, face to face, is the foundation of our program. Friendship and joy define our spirit; “Faith and Learning” is our motto.

Position Summary

St. Andrew's School seeks a social media & content manager to tell the story of daily life here. This is a role for someone who works with a camera in hand, who knows what makes people stop scrolling, and who wants a campus full of material and the freedom to go find it.

You'll own the school's social channels—including our athletics account—and build the visual record of a year at St. Andrew's: Chapel, the pond, the fields, the studios, the dorms, and the ordinary moments in between. Your work will lead on social and carry into the website, the magazine, and admissions and advancement.

This is a small, strategic office. You'll work directly with the chief communications officer (CCO) and alongside colleagues who own storytelling and the magazine, and the website and email. Some of your work will be assigned. Most of it won't. This role also sits close to students, and we're looking for someone families and colleagues will trust with that access.

This is not a studio or film production role. Large-scale video is produced with outside partners. It is not a graphic design position, though design instincts help. And it is not a desk job—you'll be out on campus most days, including evenings and weekends, because that's when the best material happens.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

What you'll own

- Social media channels. Day-to-day management of the school's Instagram, Facebook, and other platforms, plus our athletics accounts. Planning, shooting, writing, posting, and responding. You'll work from the content framework the team has built and make it better.
- School photography. Photography is the core of this job. Academics, athletics, arts, residential life, traditions, and the unscheduled moments in between—on campus and at school events elsewhere. You'll work primarily with a qualified camera—digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) or mirrorless—and you should be confident in hard conditions: dim Chapel light, indoor athletics, evening performances. St. Andrew's is a phone-free campus, and you'll be part of that culture, though pulling out a phone now and then to grab something quick for social is part of the job.
- Short-form video. Reels, recaps, student voices, behind-the-scenes. Shot on a phone or a camera, cut quickly, posted while it's still relevant. Large-scale films are produced with outside partners.
- Athletics coverage. Promote upcoming games, cover competition across all three seasons, and post results as they come in.
- Image library. Maintain a well-organized archive that serves the website, magazine, admissions, and advancement,

and follow the school's requirements for student privacy in everything published.

What You'll Partner On

- Admissions and Advancement. Understand what images and stories those offices need and shoot with those needs in mind—not just the feed.
- Athletics. Work with coaches and the athletics office on schedules, priority matchups, senior recognition, and results so coverage is planned rather than reactive.
- Storytelling and brand. Collaborate with the entire communications team for storytelling and magazine needs so social, print, and web tell a consistent story in a consistent voice.

- Website and email. Work with the digital communications manager so visual content is used well across the school's digital properties.
- Student photography team. Help recruit and train a team of student photographers to shoot athletics and other events alongside you.

Assign coverage, review submissions, and grow the program into something students want to be part of. You'll have support from the Communications team getting it started, with the expectation that you'll run it independently within the first few years.

- Large-scale video. Support outside production partners with access, planning, and on-campus logistics.

Job Requirements

- Five to seven years in social media, photography, video, or a combination.

School, college, nonprofit, agency, or brand experience all count.

- A photography portfolio showing you can work fast in bad light with people who aren't posing. Include indoor and low-light work, not just outdoor athletics.
- Demonstrated ownership of social channels, not just posting. You should be able to explain why a post worked.

- Short-form video shooting and editing skills.
- Strong writing. Captions are copy.
- Independent operator. You see what's worth capturing and you go get it without waiting for an assignment.
- Team player. This is a small office where everyone's work touches everyone else's. You communicate early, share what you're working on, and collaborate easily across departments.

- Sound judgment about what to publish. You'll be photographing minors, and some students cannot be pictured or named publicly. We'll teach you the specifics.

- Comfort photographing people of all ages—students, faculty, alumni, and families—and the instinct to know when to put the camera down.
- Organized. You'll manage a growing archive and a calendar that runs across an entire school year, including three athletic seasons.
- Genuine investment in schools and education as mission-driven environments.

Preferred Qualifications

- Independent, boarding, or higher education communications.
- Supervising student workers or interns.
- Basic graphic design; Canva.
- Project management tools such as Wrike.
- Drone photography and video. We have a drone and we want it flying. If you're eager to learn, we'll support you in earning your Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 107 certification.

Already certified? Even better.

- Athletics coverage. You don't need to know every sport, but you should be willing to learn the language of the ones you don't—and you should know how to find the moment when an athlete's form looks right.

What Success Looks Like In Year One

- A consistent, recognizable posting rhythm across all accounts and channels.
- Coverage that spans all aspects of school life (content pillars), ranging from athletics and arts to academics and school culture.
- A student photography team that is recruited, trained, and producing usable work.
- An organized, searchable image library that other offices can use.
- Established benchmarks for engagement and follower growth, with visible progress against them.
- Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 107 certification earned, if not already in hand.
- Colleagues across campus who know how to reach you and trust the result.

Schedule This job doesn't run on a fixed schedule and cannot be done remotely; on-campus work is required. Some weeks look like 8-4. Others are packed with evening games, performances, and weekend events.

The calendar drives it, and it's uneven by design. You and the CCO will plan your hours in advance, so the heavy weeks are known, and we make sure you get a break on the other end.

Ownership Of Work

All photography and video created in this role is the property of St. Andrew's School. Images of students may be used on St. Andrew's channels only. They may not be used in personal portfolios/websites, on personal social accounts, or for any outside work.
