POSITION OVERVIEW

The Lead Housekeeper is responsible for the safe, productive and effective delivery of housekeeping and janitorial services for QIL Operations at Mary River and Milne Port.

The Lead Housekeeper provides day-to-day frontline leadership to assigned employees, organizes work, sets priorities, monitors service standards, provides coaching and maintains operational records. Formal employee relations or disciplinary matters must be escalated to the Site Services Coordinator and/or Human Resources; the Lead Housekeeper may document concerns and provide input but cannot independently issue discipline. The position works closely with Site Services Coordinator, Onboarding & Training Coordinator, Human Resources, Health & Safety, client representatives and other site departments to ensure housekeeping and janitorial services are delivered safely, consistently and in accordance with contractual and operational requirements.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Team Leadership and Employee Support

· Provide day-to-day work directions to housekeeping, janitorial and other assigned QIL site services employees at Mary River.

· Assign and reassign employees to work areas, buildings, rooms, trailers, tasks and priorities based on the operational requirements.

· Monitor employee attendance, punctuality, productivity, breaks, and compliance with scheduled working hours.

· Provide coaching, instruction and performance feedback.

· Document employee performance, attendance and conduct concerns.

· Document and escalate conduct, attendance or performance concerns requiring formal corrective or disciplinary action to the Site Services Coordinator and/or Human Resources. The Lead Housekeeper does not have independent disciplinary authority.

· Participate in workplace investigations when requested and provide factual information or documentation. Any corrective or disciplinary action must be authorized by the Site Services Coordinator and/or Human Resources.

· Apply QIL policies, procedures and applicable collective agreement requirements consistently.

Operations and Quality Control:

· Prepare and adjust cleaning schedules for accommodations, common areas, offices, washrooms, laundry facilities,



remote facilities and other assigned locations.

· Adjust daily work assignments and priorities in response to occupancy, flights, absences and operational requirements, and escalate significant staffing changes to the Site Services Coordinator.

· Ensure accommodation, offices, common areas, washrooms and other assigned facilities are maintained to required standards.

· Conduct regular inspections and cleaning audits.

· Identify deficiencies and ensure corrective work is completed.

· Monitor cleaning supplies, equipment and inventory requirements.

· Coordinate room movements, check-outs and other operational requirements with appropriate client departments.

· Respond to service concerns and communicate significant issues to the Site Services Coordinator.

Health and Safety:

· Deliver daily pre-shift safety toolbox meetings to QIL staff, on time and in uniform, and participate in stretch and flex.

· Ensure employees comply with QIL and client health and safety requirements.

· Monitor proper use of PPE, cleaning chemicals and equipment.

· Identify hazards and take appropriate corrective action.

· Report and participate in investigations of incidents, injuries and near misses.

· Ensure employees complete required training and maintain applicable competencies.

Administration:

· Maintain accurate staffing, attendance, inspection and operational records.

· Review employee timekeeping and report discrepancies.

· Prepare shift reports and communicate operational concerns.

· Use QIL and client systems, including Microsoft Office, INX, SAP or other applicable programs.

· Maintain confidentiality regarding employee, client and company information.

Minimum Requirements

· Minimum 3-5 years of housekeeping, janitorial or related facility-services experience.

· Previous lead-hand,



team-lead or supervisory experience is preferred.

· Experience in remote camp, mining, industrial or large-scale accommodation environment is preferred.

· Strong leadership, communication, organizational and conflict resolution skills.

· Ability to provide coaching and feedback, document employee concerns, and escalate matters appropriately to the Site Services Coordinator and Human Resources.

· Strong administrative and computer skills, including MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.

· Mine Supervisor Level 1, First Aid, WHMIS, Food Secure Certification and other certifications required at the site or ability to obtain them.

Additional Information:

· This position may require pre-deployment TB test, medical questionnaire, criminal back ground check, vaccinated for covid-19.

· Online BIM orientation as well as on site BIM and QIL orientations are required.

· As a Lead Housekeeper, you may be required to complete applicable site leadership or supervisor training as directed by QIL or BIM.

· Mandatory Uniform and PPE will be provided. It is recommended however that an employee bring their own safety (CSA green patch and orange patch for electrical shock) footwear as this is a very personal fit/preference.

· This position reports to the Site Services Coordinator.

WORKING CONDITIONS

· Fly-in/fly-out position located at Mary River in a remote Arctic mining environment.

· Work may be performed indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

· Position requires regular walking, standing and movement between work areas.

· May occasionally be required to lift, carry, push or pull materials up to approximately 50 lbs.

· Must wear required QIL uniform and PPE.

· Must meet applicable QIL and client site-access, orientation and training requirements.

Pay: $26.78-$29.10 per hour

Expected hours: 84.0 per week
