About the Role
Theberge Group of Companies is an Ottawa-based real estate developer building thoughtfully designed communities across the National Capital Region — from purpose-built rental buildings to condominiums and custom homes. As our rental portfolio continues to grow, we are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Clerk to join our finance team and support the day-to-day financial operations of our expanding property portfolio.
This is a high-volume role that requires someone who is organized, accurate, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where the work genuinely matters. You will work closely with our Property Accountant and property management team, and your accuracy will have a direct impact on our operations.
What You'll Do
- Process a high volume of vendor invoices, purchase orders, and payment runs accurately and on schedule.
- Code and enter invoices into Yardi Voyager 7, ensuring proper allocation across properties and cost centres.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Maintain organized vendor files and ensure all documentation meets audit and compliance requirements.
- Respond to vendor inquiries professionally and efficiently.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including AP accruals.
- Support preparation of documentation for audits and tax filings.
- Collaborate with property managers and site staff to obtain invoice approvals and resolve coding questions.
- Generate AP reports and aging summaries as required by the finance team.
What You Bring
Education & Experience (Required):
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of accounts payable experience, with a demonstrated ability to manage high transaction volumes.
- Experience in property management, real estate development, or a related industry is a strong asset.
- Hands-on experience with Yardi Voyager 7 and Quickbooks Online is preferred; proficiency with other property management software will be considered.
Skills & Abilities:
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail — you catch errors before they become problems.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Office 365.
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and AP best practices.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for vendor and internal correspondence.
- Ability to work both independently and as a collaborative member of a small finance team.
- Knowledge of Canadian tax regulations (HST, CRA compliance) is an asset.
