Support Worker – Part time

About the Role

We are looking for a kind, patient, and reliable Support Worker preferably Female to provide one-to-one support to a young child with autism and developmental needs.

This is a great opportunity for someone who genuinely enjoys working with children and wants to help a child build communication, social, and everyday life skills in a safe and positive environment.

What You’ll Do

- Provide one-to-one supervision and support.
- Assist with daily activities and activities of daily living (ADLs) appropriate to the child’s age and needs.
- Engage the child in age-appropriate play, learning, and activities.
- Encourage communication and social interaction.
- Support developmental and daily living skills.
- Assist with routines such as getting dressed, personal hygiene, meals, and other daily activities as needed.
- Participate in indoor and outdoor activities and community outings when appropriate.
- Follow the child’s routines and individualized support strategies.
- Use positive reinforcement and maintain a calm, supportive environment.
- Communicate regularly with the parent about activities, observations, and progress.
- Ensure the child’s safety and well-being at all times.

Requirements

Must-have:

- Demonstrated ability to teach and support the development of emotional regulation skills.




- Ability to facilitate the development of positive social interaction and interpersonal skills.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to teach and reinforce effective verbal and non-verbal communication.
- Ability to create a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages confidence, self-expression, and positive social engagement.
- Comfortable providing one-to-one support.
- Able to assist with daily activities and activities of daily living.
- Able to follow instructions and maintain consistent routines.

Preferred:

- Previous experience working with children with autism or developmental disabilities.
- Experience as a Support Worker, Respite Worker, Behaviour Interventionist, ECE, PSW, or Caregiver.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Vulnerable Sector/Criminal Record Check.
